Great to hear! I've learned so much due to this sub <3

That's right...I forgot about that. Duh, it wasn't too long ago for me either for that stuff. I suppose I was just a little upset from reading something the other day on here and saw it happening when I was discussing it with someone. I think I edited something yesterday and kind of went off...hmmm...misplaced that a bit. I'll edit that again when I find it. Thanks for the reminder.

Cool. The only thing I worry about on this sub is that I read almost every comment of every thread and have learned a lot from this sub. I think the discussions on here are very well done and people give various sides and are generally well mannered. Thing is, if people downvote (which in the recent times have actually gotten worse), then I have to expand it because it gets buried...if it adds to the discussion, then let if be. Personally I upvote any person who takes the time to response, so if…

Oh, hahaha! I guess I was just thinking of an "expansion" of the beauty routine. For instance, I knew this one girl who was very organized and she made the month of April her month to do her annual/dentist/check up. I thought that was a good idea and someone also said they whiten their teeth while they vacuum, which is a pretty good use of the time. Do you have Keritosis Piliaris (spelling?) too? I do. Exfoliation and coconut oil is the best routine, besides actual sun, that I've found works.

I've upvoted you. I'm not sure who is going around downvoting people who are adding to the discussion. Yes, I think the realization is a step in the right direction and agree with you.

her idea of spicing up her marriage is to fight with him Ah...I didn't read it as that. Kind of like when she spoke about pearls and ironing. Like, he may need this, but I need this kind of thing. This reads so poorly... I'm just trying to say she sucks. lol Nah dude, I get what you are throwing down. Aw man, I had this whole thing written out but it got deleted. Let me see if I can do a smaller version: So she expects him to be a mind-reader/tit-for-tat Yep. That isn't how a relationship works. Keeping score is the last thing you need to be doing in a relationship. She is being passive aggressive and then justifying it by saying that spice in a relationship never hurt anyone... it does. severely. I can't take up for someone, but just offer a different perspective because we only got a snippit of someone's life from her standpoint. She is totally bat shit crazy. Hey now, you're giving all us real batshits a bad name :p Selfish? Yes, that what it seems from this small portion, but I suggest it is her "defense" mechanism. Hear me out... Well physical appearance for women has multiple factors. A couple are sexual selection and natural selection. It's not just a subconscious thing; it's innate as well.

There's quite a bit going on in her post. I think some communication could help the passive aggression. She mentions pearls/spice in the marriage/happy wife=happy life AKA put up with it/ him not being clean...I think what would help solve these is some honest communication and working to help each other- maybe she can have a night off and he can always clean the toilets so she can always load the dishwasher or something along those lines. The dynamic seems off and sweeping it under the rug obvi…

I'm having a hard time being attracted to any men with a marriage mindset because their shortsightedness is a turnoff. I'm the kind of person who will sacrifice myself for the good of others and I'm having difficulty being selfish about this. Care to explain this further, please?

I feel you. When my LO weens, I'm going to run this on some operant conditioning to hopefully remedy (probably the Ferber Method compliments of B.F. SKinner). Just remember nothing is forever. You have some very good ideas about life and I think they are very reasonable. I am just scared he might change his mind and try and upgrade to a younger, newer model when he is ready to settle down and then fling me to the sidelines at 28 where I then scramble to find someone. I've seen this. I've seen a man actually get married to a girl and they remained husband and wife for years. They ended up divorcing when she was 36, and she told him she felt as though he "stole her best years" (as far a…

My husband and I just have one around 10 months-ish. I'm happily a STAHM (I freaking LOVE IT), but planning to work part-time when LO is 4-5 years old. I mostly co-sleep with my LO (as it is way more convenient to breastfeed this way) and while it isn't ideal we are slowly getting the baby to sleep alone. Husband cannot sleep with LO because it's just too loud, so I try to go between beds. Like I said, it's not ideal. I feel you on the sleep, we are going through some major teething at the momen…

There is nothing wrong with working as a fork lift diver. She was trying to see if you had the money to support her and her kid (it's a silly and rude question to ask someone if you don't know them but extremely common). A better question a higher quality person would ask is, "What are your passions in life?" After she said what she said, just look at her for a time where she starts doubting what came out of her mouth. You don't have to respond or get down to that level...because you aren't, obv…

So, a lot of what each of you two perceive as "rude" or "acceptable" behavior could stem from the differences of culture. May I ask you another 2 other questions? What is the goal of your relationships (e.g. are you wanting marriage around a certain age with a family, do you want to "date and just have fun", or would you like to be a career minded woman independent of relationship factors, or just not know)?

Hey /u/somedayimight. I have a baby too. Are you a STAHM, by chance? How many and how old are they? I agree with /u/always-be-closing when he says: He wants the hospital to be able to fix him, he wants the mess to serve hot food, etc. This is what works for my husband and I. I do, however disagree with this: You have to go to sleep earlier, sleep better, and wake up with him. If you aren't a morning person, wake up earlier than him very quietly, feed the baby, have some coffee, prep for the day …

I really like that: "facts, not feelings". I'm sorry I don't have better advice. I'm in a different scenario, and really haven't been in your situation. I'm a pretty big believer that most arguments are misunderstandings if the people involved are working towards a common logical goal. I have, a while ago, briefly dated someone who did some of the things you are describing. I had to look logically at the suggestions and critiques. Wholely and generally, I figured that the person was dissatisfied…

Just wanted to highlight this: You can't control other people, or expect them to change. If you don't like the person as they are when you meet them - then move on. This is so true. In most situations you can drive yourself mad trying to get people like friends or family to do something a particular sort of way, but it is not worth it (and for that fact, how would you know 100% that it is the right way)? You could kindly show them an easier, or cheaper, or more efficient way, but in the end, the…

I haven't used it. Are you prone to acne? I usually don't use that, just a mild cleanser and some chemical exfoliation pads, followed with moisturizer and sunscreen. I remember in college there were girls that spoke badly of other girls saying someone was a "slut". For anyone interested, If anyone knows any pregnant women, rings slings are pretty awesome as a gift. You will need 3 yards of your cotton non stretch fabric and a pair of 3" aluminum rings. I'm making reversible slings with a pocket for keys or a wallet. Depending on how much your fabric costs, you can make it for around 30.00, although getting the fabric on sale can make it considerably cheaper/more expensive. Oh, I know what you meant, I thought it was funny. In her post she compares herself to his current wife, and by her age, she is hitting the wall, she just denies it saying she looks in her 20s. In all honesty, I would be surprised if the dude is even getting a divorce since he isn't spending that much time with her. What I thought was funny about what you said is that you went back to your ex-wife (presumably) and the guy will probably do the same, lol.

So...you are going to re-marry your ex-wife or mistress? This post is about a mistress hitting the wall (and in denial of it), comparing herself to his current wife (as she feels she is much better) and hearing that the man wants kids, just not a commitment as binding as marriage. If you are going to remarry your ex-wife, your comment does stick the knife in to her rather sharply as you are saying that he would probably just go back to his wife and mother of his child, lol. It's so funny, becaus…

Nah man, I get it that it's a "joke" but in all seriousness there was a post a couple of days on reddit about this very thing. This is so great. Women notoriously have no idea what they want. I've experienced this so many times just in conversations with women (I am a woman as well). They tend to contradict themselves all the time and want one specific thing to happen (hint, it's also their idea). Sometimes when I get to the root of the issue, it is the EXACT opposite of what they told me in the beginning of the talk. Strange. If they haven't invested in that part of your life, then you can choose (this is just my opinion) when and if you tell them. I've noticed that people, when they do take breaks from school, have a much better time when they go back (unless they wait too long and are 40, then they feel out of place). I understand you want him to feel this bond with animals, but humans are animals too (with a nice frontal lobe) and your bond with him is degrading and you can change it. That is why there are so many people voicing to let him eat what he …

like how she can get her husband to make the same connection she did This is the problem. I don't mean to speculate, but I'm sure they have already discussed this and his decision was to go with meat (per her saying he was okay with it, now he's not). OP is trying to control his actions and look for outside validation for a decision she made blatantly disrespecting his wishes. Personally, I find something like this very disrespectful towards the husband.

Hey girl, have you checked out /r/mealprepsunday? I made some awesome slow cooker meals as well. It is pretty easy to pick 2 days during the week to meal prep and either use them as a base for dinner (like chicken and broccoli- into chicken fried rice, chicken stir fry, ect.) /r/slowcooking is also a good resource. I'm baking a whole chicken right now and yesterday I made some salsa chicken (which is just amazingly a can of salsa and chicken breast put on the bottom of a slow cooker). I added pe…

I became vegan very suddenly in April this year after watching Cowspiracy. In the beginning my husband was fine with it but now he's having a hard time not having meat at [our] home. Do you see what I see? now I end up having some anxiety with a hint of anger brewing when I see meat in food You have anger for a choice you made and forced on him? Am I hearing that correctly? What can I cook to satisfy him? A bloody steak. Perhaps wear a mask and rub some vapor rub in it and wear gloves.

OP, there are a lot of truths in these posts. I hope that you can see past the emotional factor of strangers on the internet commenting on your life, but you asked for help. Some people may be more "blunt" than others, but that is just a compliment to not waste frivolous words and to be clear. If I may add, you may want to get your house in order, get your nutrition in check, and workout 4-5 times a week (lifting and cardio). If you cannot afford a gym, look at Youtube videos, as there are many,…

My husband is so appreciative every single time I feed him. He gives me such good feedback and I love making him whatever he wants. It works well for us that he makes the money, I make sure he has everything he needs and has what he wants when he isn't working. It makes me feel good to take care of him and he has said it makes him feel good to provide for me.

I saw this post the other day on TRP and shared it with my husband, so I'm glad it trickled into this sub. It's really good advice for anyone. Too often people turn to SSRIs (anti-depressants) for short term blues, a lot of the time proper exercise and nutrition help tremendously or at least a person is able to see if they really need medication long term. I would add to cut out people who suck or who are abusive. Really. Family members who can't get it together or suck the life out of you aren'…

I love lifting heavy! I love having sore muscles and burning calories while I sleep rather than running mile after mile a day. There are never girls in the free weight section at my gym :/ I don't care if other people find that I am attractive at the gym, I need to be attractive to my husband, not random chicks or dudes. I'm not going to slather on makeup just to have it run down later like a Salvador Dali painting. They can judge me all they want (I really don't think they are, though) and I've…

I love my husband's taste. We decorate together and paint/craft together often. It's our home, not just mine. I wouldn't want a space that has clutter, so my husband and I tend to love contemporary/modern minimalism with clean lines and lots of color/lights. Efficiency isn't what you gather, it's what you relinquish.

Congratulations on your baby! I just had my first baby not too long ago. I really underestimated how my abdominal and quads would feel. Recovery was actually not too bad, and I lost my baby weight quickly, but regaining the muscle I had is becoming a slower process. Protein is so good, I felt like 3rd trimester I would just run through the carbs and leave me even more hungry, so chicken breasts cut into bite-size pieces can help save off hunger. Good luck on your birth!

Thank you. Sounds great you are being so prepared! I think it was easier for my husband and I to conceive since I was weight lifting, running, and watching my diet. Biologically, your clock is "ticking"; I read that a woman's fertility does go down after 28, but feeling confident that you have things for your baby and you've planned financially will give you piece of mind. If I may say something though...my sister had a hard time conceiving at age 28 when she was in medical school/residency. Her…

I had a baby a couple of months ago and I had that same feeling around age 27. My husband and I waited and it was a good decision. That's great that he's planning on a nursery. You have a good amount of time to read and plan. It's a great time to start making sure your body is ready for a baby. Are you taking your prenatals and keeping good nutrition/exercise?

Not OP, but my husband works nights and we are always so excited to see each other when he comes home. We do a "final countdown" text and hour before his shift ends. I usually can cook dinner in 20 minutes or less (for instance, tonight he had double breaded pork chops, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans last night was chicken fried rice with veggies). I think the trick is making sure you know how long each thing will take to cook and start on the longest and move towards the shortest so th…

Thank you for your response. When my husband asks for my help in solving something he feels is troubling, I feel it is my duty to try to give the best, non-bias, and helpful response. Therefore, I am trying to think critically and get suggestions. I don't want to do a knee-jerk response, but rather something I have thought through on multiple levels. I am humble to the fact that I don't know everything, and trying to get on consensus of the most calculated well-rounded plan would be what he aske…

That's good! I haven't ever been asked that...I guess I would tell someone something smartass-like and say "if our body were to die and our brain had no neurons, then how would we see"? I wouldn't be being an asshole, I really would like to know their answer, but they wouldn't take it that way. I could cut the conversation much shorter with an "I don't", though.

speak plainly, calmly, and matter of factly when expressing opinions. the slightest suggestion that a person should feel ashamed of their beliefs is enough to trigger a defensive reaction. confidence is key. disagree with them confidently but like its no big deal (this is strictly impossible via text). I think this is it! Thank you! I tend to boil things down to a few arguments (a bigger picture mentality) when I should be direct and specific with confidence. Perhaps I should choose my words ver…

my advice would be to make sure your husband has his ass covered. do what he needs to do to make sure that something wont fall back on him. make sure to notify someone high up that hes been observing unsafe practices. something to fall back on so he can say that he tried and its not his fault when someone gets hurt. Thanks for this. I try to document when he tells me just to have a backup. Last night he told me it happens so much that he just tries to block it out. He is not in charge of other's…

Other problems would be along the same lines as people know the right answers, but do what they want instead. His mother struggles with addiction and alcoholism/rage. I would love to have a solid relationship with them as well, but as time has shown, the mother is very authoritative and manipulative. My husband has seen the hypocritical nature and tried to have a good relationship but has eventually just stopped because she doesn't respect his boundaries or pushes him to be Christian. His facebo…

Thanks for your interest. Problem 1) My husband does work in critical building and people must follow a code. At his work they preach safety, but when it comes down to it, they try to cut as many corners as they can. He has found several instances where an engineer and quality and foreman has been wrong. He has raised this to their attention (but only does it on the ones he knows for a fact could land him in a tight spot). He fears retaliation and anyone in this field knows that they say they wi…

You have scars? /r/SkincareAddiction can help. I don't need a gun. If someone is stupid enough to come into my house, then they are stuck in there with me, not the other way around. Look, one of the most dangerous things a person can do on a day-to-day basis is drive/ride in a automobile. The statistics are staggering, yet it doesn't stop people from their commute to work/gym/school. Make some safety plans and go over them with yourself and then with your husband (in case of an emergency, fire, home invasion ect.) and see what he thinks when…
