For rent, I prefer if the guy pays housing 100% or we split it based on income percentage - i.e. if he earns 60% of our combined income, he pays 60% of the rent. For mortgage - if the house was solely in his name I’d bring up contracting an equity share based on income percentage. I am your girlfriend, not your tenant nor your friend. For example, if we lived together for a year, I want to be entitled to however much value the house increased, based on our income percentage. Never had this conve…

My NVM ex called me a “$1,000 prostitute” because I dressed up in lingerie to thank him for buying us a month’s worth of groceries... I think I did it because I was afraid of being called a “gold digger”. Damned if you do; damned if you don’t. Just shows how my ex is such a piece of shit and saw me as an object... I have an Ivy League degree... I’m pretty sure a “prostitute” of my caliber can charge more than $1,000 ya cheap fuck

Even if there is Uber insurance reimbursement, he’ll get the insurance payout from Uber since it’s in his account, and he certainly won’t give it to me.

I completely agree with you and /u/Wait__No__What. He really shouldn’t get away with this. The amount $1,000 isn’t really the issue, it’s the egregious disrespect from him. I also think I have a case for property damage as a result of negligence. I am wondering if it really is worth fighting though, for the hours I’d spend going through the Small Claims process, serving him papers, etc. I’m sure he’ll try to make this process as slow and as painful for me as possible. It’s been 2 months since it…

This is possible. What confuses me is that said on June 8 he was “going to drop it off if I don’t hear from you soon.” Then in a June 10 text he said he dropped it off “weeks ago.” Why would he lie to the cop though?!

Interesting you ladies see this with a critical eye. Things that resonate with me: - Women not paying for dates - She looks expensive. I want to look expensive. - She looks like she takes care of herself. Things that don’t resonate with me: - Her educational level and career is a bit tenuous - Excessive use of cheek filler - Her e-mails have typos ??? - She advocates against wearing yoga pants and midtop while flying. Why? - Like everyone in the thread, she sounded Russian to me at first.

A relationship or an “ideal” kind of love isn’t the end-all-be-all. Women should stop searching this from men and learn how to be happy by themselves and love themselves. This shouldn’t be the most important thing in my life. Also who wakes you up at 3am to whisper “I love you”? Let me sleep.

Being with him (and with narcissistic men) is like heroin. Studies have shown that women recovering from narcissistic men exhibit the same level of pain as recovering drug addicts (read the book Power by Shahida Arabi). It’s because the lovebombing (showering of affection in the beginning of the relationship) is an attempt by the abuser (your ex) to lure you in. Once you’re hooked, he starts withdrawing affection, devaluing you, only doling out affection every now and then to keep you hooked. Yo…

It’s okay, I was there too. My ex blamed me for the breakup, so apologized to him. Looking back, he did a lot of fucked up things, and it made me regret that I “stooped down” and apologized to him. But I wasn’t as wise then as I am now, and that’s okay - we live and we learn. Also his opinion doesn’t matter anymore because he is trash. You don’t need the validation of garbage people. Be kind to yourself, OP.

invest your time focusing on “getting closure” to lift another woman up. Thanks for this. It makes me feel that my breakup, despite how painful it was, had a higher purpose. The purpose is to share other women the lessons I’ve learned so they don’t have to go through the same things I have.

I highly recommend the book Power by Shahida Arabi. She’s done years of studying narcissists (and is also a survivor) and has insights about what they’re like, how to regain your power, etc. Yes, lovebombing and mirroring are one of the first traits of a narcissist.

When people bring you down it’s because they are so insecure or feel powerless about themselves that they need to bring other people down to their low feelings of self to regain their feeling of power. The book Verbally Abusive Relationships defines this as a person’s need to have “Power Over” another person. Here’s an anecdote: While visiting my house, my ex saw my Ivy League degree displayed above my fireplace. He said, “You must be SO proud [displaying it like this].” My gut was telling me th…

On our first date, my ex revealed he was previously engaged to a woman he was dating for 4+ years. When I asked why it ended, he said “she was bipolar” and “got paranoid” that he was cheating whenever he was out of town (he traveled a lot for his work). And he wasn’t gonna quit his job because of her. Way to attribute the breakup to her, that bozo. Pickmeisha Storytime: The morning after our first date we ate out for breakfast, my ex disclosed that he had previously been engaged to someone he dated for seven years. However, it didn’t work out because he was traveling a lot for his job, and her bipolar disorder caused her to be paranoid and suspicious/jealous during long periods when he was out-of-state traveling. I also had a rich ex, and he was also a narcissist. He’d constantly talk about the stuff and money he had. Whenever I talked about myself he’d always find a way to bring it back to him. It was a lot of emotional labor for me. Not to mention the subtle demeaning words and the gaslighting... Ultimately I had to walk away for my own peace of mind. I would never date a guy that has a kid. To me, these men are “damaged goods”. A guy that has a kid from another woman will be forever tied to the kid’s baby mama. This is especially true when there is coparenting involved between the man and the baby mama. Call me selfish, but I don’t want to share my partner’s attention or effort with anyone else.

My ex treated me out to somewhere nice and fancy. When we got home I wanted to show my appreciation by dressing sexy for him. He made a joke about me being a prostitute. “You’re a $1,000 prostitute? Is that all it took?” I was upset. “Relax, I was kidding, you’re too sensitive,” he said. I remained quiet and chalked it up to my insecurity, but looking back this was such a huge red flag and he was gaslighting me. He’s a NVM hiding in HVM clothing.

Omg, my ex would also brag about his bed. “I have an Alaskan King bed, it’s bigger than a California King bed.” I accidentally spilled something on his sheets and stained it, I offered to buy him a new one and he said “I don’t think you can afford it, this is Egyptian Cotton.” I’m an engineer and most certainly can afford it, but you’re right he’s holding that over me.

4 and 14 fit my ex to a tee. He was successful, and he wouldn’t stop talking about how much he earned, how much his stuff was. He’d say things like, “Check out this $2,000 juicer” or the “$10,000 commission I just got today” or “I usually spend $8,000/month but due to the quarantine I’m spending less” or “yeah I had a Porsche when I was 16.” I felt bad that instead of feeling happy for him, I just felt annoyed and down on myself. I thought it was my insecurity. Turns out he’s just a narcissistic…

You’re a HVW who has experience dating other rich guys, how’d you meet them? When you broke up with them, how’d you get over losing that lifestyle with them? Any tips on how to attract high-earning HVM in the future?

These are some of the things my ex would say: “I bought this $2000 commercial juicer. It’s the best.” “Check out this $500 bar stool.” “I would spend $8,000 monthly on gadgets and going out. My financial advisor is so proud I haven’t spent that much at all because of the quarantine.” “For my birthday I’m throwing $3,000 for a VIP reservation at the club and I’m also renting a party bus.” “I used to live in a penthouse with vaulted ceilings and a California walk in closet.” “I downgraded a bit so…

he added a lot of value to my life or else I wouldn’t have stayed - it just wasn’t in the right ways or all the way to make him a true HVM. I think this rings true to me. He was a great guy, but I don’t have the same sense of humor. We don’t find the same jokes funny. When we talk sometimes, I feel there is this fundamental incompatibility that made me think that he isn’t the right person for me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This post was very useful to me.

It would suck financially but I’m gonna increase my Uber budget to hold myself accountable. And drink less. (Not gonna lie my ex was kinda an alcoholic, and all we did was drink during quarantine)

Definitely a wake-up call for me. Better a breakup than a DUI.

The night we broke up, I was talking to my friends on Zoom playing online board games. I wanted him to sit and play with me and meet my friends, but he was reluctant in participating, and had a sarcastic tone. It felt to me like he didn’t want to make friends with my friends. I think I said “you think you’re better than my friends. You think you’re the shit.” It felt like I lived in his world, but he wasn’t interested in mine. He said I was accusing him of wrong things, and that he was just bein…

Thank you for the kind words. I’ve definitely been doing a lot of introspection these past few days as to how I can change anger, and other maladaptive ways of thinking. It might be a while but I hope I can eventually feel secure in my relationships.

No sane person, man or woman, would tolerate name-calling. I totally agree with you that this is emotionally abusive and I am regretful for my mistake. It cost me a wonderful guy, but I have a better understanding of what I need to work on.

I was drunk, I don’t remember the exact words. I think I called him arrogant. I don’t disagree with him, looking back I have lost friendships before because I’ve used abusive language towards them. Anger and emotional regulation is something I need to work on.

Thank you for the advice. He dumped me then blocked all contact unceremoniously, like I was nothing. A HVM would have empathy and at least give me the decency of calling one last time to provide some closure.

He wasn’t like the LVM examples I read about in this sub. He wanted to be exclusive in a month and didn’t play games. He provides for me, is generous, cooks me food and serves me drinks, willing to fly between states if I was in an emergency. Never called me names or belittled me. Is proud to show me off to his friends, family, work. The night he and I broke up, we had an argument that escalated, I packed my suitcase as if I was leaving him for good, left the apartment without saying goodbye, an…

We had a huge argument where I stormed out and packed my bags as if I was leaving. According to him, on my way out, I called him names, threatened to break up with him, and I drove home drunk. I assume it’s because I was being emotionally manipulative and maybe did a dealbreaker which was drive home drunk.

My ex would fondle his cock and his balls as a form of mindless fidgeting. Then he touches remote controls and food without washing his hands beforehand.

I have the same views as you. I’m Asian and I personally like white guys, but when I see that they only date Asian girls in the past, it’s an automatic turn-off. Growing up in an Asian country, I’ve seen so many white expat scrote LVMs prey on (usually more disadvantaged) Asian Pickmeishas who are a dime a dozen.

THIS. One of the reasons why it probably didn’t work with my ex was that we didn’t share the same humor. Sometimes he’d crack a joke or make references and would laugh so hard, and I would try to force myself to laugh with him. I don’t know if it’s the quarantine driving me nuts, but I just couldn’t imagine spending the next 10+ years of my life pretending like that. He was an HVM in every other aspect (e.g. dad bod but good-looking, high-earning provider, fulfills my kinks) which makes it such …

“your soul is erratic and outright making it possible to come to fruition” How do I get rid of this? My past trauma, insecurities, etc. caused a breakup with my HVM ex. It feels hopeless, like I won’t find anyone as good as him again. I just want to come out of this a better person.

If he still shows signs that he’s interested I’d keep him around but make sure he still does all the work and play “dumb fox” or deflect whenever he tries to initiate sex. If he’s a HVM he’d stick around even without the promise of sex.
