I am $100k in debt. I get screamed at by my superiors constantly. I can assure you I did not want to become a doctor for money or power. Anyone bright and hard working enough to get through med school could choose a number of other careers that involve more money and power

Same. I used to be a big fan of hers but seeing her behavior when she felt threatened by Cardi B turned me off. Women should support other women

From what I understand from Epstein’s victims’ statements most were lured into his home in Miami with the promise of an assistant job or something similar. I can’t speak for other cities but the stories of patients I’ve spoken to who were trafficked as children all go something like this: They were drugged by their parents who repeatedly sold them to folks they knew down the holler for heroin money (not billionaires who are part of a complex crime ring). Most of these homes don’t have cell phone…

Sorry I should have clarified. I’m not referring to people who care about Jeffrey Epstein period, I’m referring to people who turn it into memes or a sensationalized hobby without any genuine empathy for the victims. I think most of the women here, myself included, care very much about Epstein’s associates being held accountable. Also I wouldn’t say Epstein and friends are in any way related in a “top down” manner to the parents in my low income town who traffic their children to their buddies d…

Your particular French man may be a HVM but I wouldn’t be so quick to put other cultures on a pedestal. Misogyny is alive and well everywhere and the European variety sucks in its own way

Taylor Swift is the biggest pickme on the planet. “You belong with me”- lyrics make me want to throw up “Bad blood” video - bullying other women with all her cool model friends “You need to calm down” video - classist, equates being poor to being ignorant, uses LGBTQ people as props and compares her own struggles to homophobia

Personally I think men everywhere suck. Whenever I’ve dated guys from other countries or when I lived abroad for 6 years, they always seemed like a breath of fresh air at first until I discovered their brand of awful. FWIW, you’re right that American men are less cultured and well groomed than other cultures but we shouldn’t forget that every culture has its problem areas (we get used to our own). N=1 but I dated an Asian guy once and his family was horridly judgmental/superficial and couldn’t m…

Yup. Out of curiosity I went to r/conspiracy and read about the Chrissy Teigen theories- ridiculous. She tweeted about pizza and toddlers and tiaras a few times and that MUST mean she’s in a pedophile ring. The rest of the thread was them calling her an “ugly high class prostitute” married to a “socially conscious singer with no talent” 🙄

I can only speak from personal experience but I’ve never been so openly disrespected by men as when I’ve traveled to middle eastern countries And not every criticism of some aspect of middle eastern culture is anti-Islam ignorance. (The guy I referenced in my previous comment was actually Catholic)

The only middle eastern guy I’ve ever dated had insane and conflicting expectations. He wanted a girl with a doctorate degree but who would quit her job after having kids, and be sexually freaky but also not have a history with other men.

This is why you keep options around until you’re sure someone isn’t like this. Years ago I was seeing two guys non-exclusively and one of them started pulling behavior like this so I had no issues dumping him immediately

These stats should be evaluated more carefully. A couple major issues with her argument: 1: neglecting potential confounders People who don’t live together before marriage are more likely to be from conservative backgrounds where divorce is shameful and women are expected to stick by their man at all costs (and in many cases are financially dependent on them). There was a study (Woods and Emery) that showed “cohabitation accounted for little variance in divorce rates after controlling for the cu…

It’s nice to see an incoming M1 with a well rounded view of what medicine is like. I saw too many people in my class come in with unrealistic expectations, and most of them ended up very disappointed. I hate the glorification of medicine- we’re not heros and it’s just a job
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/04/20 01:53 AM

Fourth year medical student here- you can absolutely have a family in medicine, many women in my class have kids and they do great! Do I regret it? Yes and No. It’s a stable, intellectually stimulating career that pays well. I always did well in school but loathed the idea of having to “sell myself” in a job interview vs medicine which is (relatively) merit based. And my parents are both physicians so I never really considered doing anything else. But to be honest, I would think twice before doi…

If you’re a millionaire 17 year old with an international platform and adults on your PR team, I don’t think you’re as entitled to use the “I was just stupid and young” excuse Edit: sis you were 6 years old when Taylor’s first album came out lol
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy28/03/20 07:27 PM

Taylor is the epitome of anti-feminist. And those who haven’t followed her since her early days applaud her for her pro-LGBT messages but if she were a true ally she would’ve supported the community before it was “cool” and good for her career. She used to use the word gay as a slur in old songs and in interviews

Lots of paramedics/EMTs are narcs or sociopaths in my experience. It’s all of the gory, bad parts of medicine without the good parts. If they really liked taking care of people who are sick they’d go to nursing or medical school instead

I’m naturally skinny with a pancake butt and so many guys have tried to force feed me or tell me to go to the gym and do squats. Then they act shocked that their manipulation didn’t work when I tell them I like my butt how it is

My thoughts exactly. Some medical specialties just attract narcissists
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/01/20 12:27 PM

There are a lot of selfish narcissists in medicine. This dude in my med school class made his fiancé quit her job and move halfway across the country to rural middle of nowhere with him, then 6 months into M1 he cheated on her with a classmate and they were engaged not even a year later. His new pickmeisha is thrilled and I’m like girl do you not think he’s going to cheat on you? He’s also stupid and ugly AF and I want to hug his fiancé and tell her she’s a badass and doesn’t need him
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/01/20 11:29 AM

Ewwww. In my experience dudes this insecure will eventually cheat, because even if you do give him lots of compliments/attention, it will never be enough and he’ll look elsewhere. Then they gaslight you with the “well you weren’t paying enough attention to me!”

This would never happen because it would be too identifying but I would love to see the women of this sub and the boys on that sub post pictures of ourselves, our jobs, our degrees, or our bank accounts lol. Something tells me they’d get quiet all of the sudden

Yeah he raised my a narc mother, (not that it excuses his behavior)- gaslighting came so naturally to him that he did it all the time, at even inconsequential things when we weren’t fighting. Whenever I said I was cold he’d be like, “it’s not cold though” and I had to explain him multiple times that not everyone has the same perception of temperature 😂

Don’t list your attributes outright- demonstrate with examples and let the person reading it make the conclusion themselves. For example, you don’t need to say you’re altruistic because that’s apparent when you say you volunteer and work in healthcare, nor do you need to say you’re into self improvement, because it’s evident by the fact that you like to keep fit and have tons of cool hobbies

Love this! Another comment I would add is that I think there are limits to the idea of women doing traditional “male” activities. Video games for example- the gaming world is a very inhospitable place for women. If a women is an avid gamer but doesn’t actively speak out on these issues and call out sexist comments, that’s “cool girl” behavior, even if she genuinely does like the activity independent of male approval
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/01/20 10:56 PM

I mean if that’s what you’re looking for, good on you for developing a strategy to find it, and being okay with the idea that narrows your dating pool significantly. I don’t know how anyone could fault you for that

“You belong with me” - Taylor Swift People act like she’s some kind of feminist icon but she used to regularly slut shame other women in interviews and wrote an entire song about how some poor girl dating her guy friend was “basic” unlike her, a cool girl. She’s like the female equivalent of a guy complaining about the friend zone
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/01/20 02:16 PM

Agree. Video games in moderation can be okay but ladies keep in mind these are virtual realities that have been designed to make you feel like you’re socializing and achieving, when really you’re not. And unlike sports or things that require you to go somewhere and spend money, there are no real physical, time, or monetary limits. It’s a relatively low cost upfront for literally days of game time, and you can sit there all day until you get a DVT. It’s telling that some people who work in tech c…

As a non-French speaker in Montreal I’ve dated a few Jewish guys and in my experience they are ambitious, cultured, and also a good mix of polite and masculine in that they’ll take charge and plan dates and such. I can’t stand passive aggressive men so I also appreciate how straight up and practical they tend to be in terms of letting their thoughts be known. The French guys there though, don’t get me started. The Quebecois tend to be kind of racist and well... tacky for lack of a better word (l…

100% agree. I don’t think anyone under 25 should be seriously dating for marriage, but it’s good to date for fun just so you can learn how to navigate romantic relationships

These are probably “yellow flags”, not “red flags”, meaning don’t break up just because people on reddit told you to, but definitely keep your eyes and ears open, and make sure to build up your own life and focus on you. I may be wrong and he may end up to be wonderful, in that case he’ll stick around and understand if you’re focusing on yourself a healthy amount. But if things don’t work out, that way you’ll be okay too. PS- pay attention to what men “joke about”

Sis, no. He’s: “afraid of gold diggers”. this is sexist bullshit, especially from a dude who lives in an apartment his dad bought is already talking to you, a 19 year old with the world at your fingertips, about how he wants you to come live with him when you finish college? What happens when you get a kick ass job or get into your dream grad school? won’t have a college degree. Not trying to be shallow here but it is highly unlikely you two will be in the same mindset 5, 10 years down the road …

Yep this guy sounds like he has some cluster B type behaviors. They’ll often impress people with their apparent openness and willingness to listen to your problems, but make no mistake folks, it IS NOT normal for someone to tell you about their Trauma shortly after meeting them
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/01/20 07:58 PM

Exactly. Her being bi has nothing to do with her going to a strip club. I am straight and I wouldn’t go to a male strip club

Yeah I’ve been successful, not necessarily by actively suppressing my kinks, but by addressing the core beliefs about myself that facilitated them in the first place. By working on loving myself, doing enriching things that make me better, and cutting out toxic people, I was suddenly less aroused by the idea of getting slapped around
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/01/20 11:04 PM

I had a similar realization, and this is such an important distinction! I had dated a string of man-children who engaged in passive aggressive behaviors and I was tired of teaching and mothering, so I started to look for men who took charge. But a man who takes the lead does not equal someone who gets turned on hurting women
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/01/20 10:25 PM

Amen. As much as I seem to be “wired” to enjoy this kind of sex, the only men who have been naturals at it ended up being trash and/or abusive. The truly good men I’ve dated felt weird about it

The old war vets at the VA are the worst about this kind of stuff. Rotating there as a student is awful and I will never ever work at a VA (I don’t have any interest in prescribing a bunch of Klonopin all day anyway! 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Exactly. Maybe even worse are the "I'm not like other guys" types who think they are unique snowflakes but everything they like is taken from a list of Reddit Approved Indie Stuff, and their basis for their supposed intelligence is that they were in honors classes in high school or got a 4.0 GPA at their shitty state university When you scratch the surface most men are boring dumb misogynists

I’m with you girl, I hate how many American dudes are obsessed with the gym and want to look as muscular as possible. Slim toned looks fine, but bulky muscular just looks fat to me
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/01/20 04:10 PM

Newsflash- whether we like it or not men already have power over us because of societal misogyny. I will go Dutch the day women are truly equal to men, but until then I’m gaming the system like they get to every second of their lives

Oh yeah definitely. Western Europeans aren’t more polite than Americans they just hide hostility behind passive aggression, sarcasm, and dry “humor”

Yep. This guy was very educated, cosmopolitan, and knew all the right “progressive” things to say. He claimed to love my independence and intelligence, but when push came to shove he wanted me to submit to him just like his mom and sisters obey the male figures in their lives

Amen. In my experience men in Middle Eastern countries are fucking atrocious too, way worse than Americans. Only place in the world I’ve been cat called by other men while walking with a boyfriend (this happened in Israel and Turkey) I once dated a guy who had immigrated from Iraq (Michigan anyone?) and his misogyny level was out of this world. OPs post history is full of wildly inaccurate or oversimplified assumptions about medicine. She is self described as a "really smart" trust fund baby and daughter of a plastic surgeon, so I guess she thinks that makes her entitled to do so? She was banned from twitter for threatening a physician's safety. She also (illegally) doxxed an OB/Gyn, and posted a screenshot (now deleted) of a private email she had with them, where, from what I can tell, she wanted to talk to them about clitoral anatomy…

I'm not suggesting you do something you hate, but keep in mind that passions are often formed with time, they don't just jump out at you. In terms of your career, pick something that is in line with your talents and values, and then put all of your effort into it. For example, I was also a decent STEM student and I liked social justice-y type things, but I'm introverted and always lacked the skills/energy required to engage in social politics or "selling myself". I chose medicine, and while I do…

This was me! My cheating abusive boyfriend twisted my arm into an open relationship and then surprise! I had a buffet of men to choose from and he could barely land a date. At that point the only hard part of leaving him was deciding which of the guys I’d been casually seeing I wanted to date instead. Three years later he still attempts to contact me whining about what a mistake he’d made

Since when does politically liberal = useless degree? I’m very liberal and am an MD student In that case, I would argue white collar folks don’t even need to learn these things. If a physician, for example, makes more per hour than it would cost to fix a car or mow the lawn, it would make more sense to pay someone else to do it. I don’t necessarily need a man who can do those things, as long as it gets done by someone
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy24/12/19 12:59 AM
