I think if you have any doubts about the person specifically because of the chronic illness, then you’re not a good match for them. It would be a waste of both your times

Depends. I have a chronic, progressive disease that has and can affect a relationship. I think it really depends on how that person is dealing with it.

If they're making a genuine effort to cope with the chronic illness and thrive despite that (and we were, of course, compatible), sure. I'd date them.

For example, if I had to choose between dating a man who's perhaps disabled due to his chronic disease but making every effort to be healthy and happy, and a man who's disease-free but a giant baby who refuses to adult and care for himself, I'd choose the man with the chronic disease.

No. I would take such a situation to mean that I would be expected to be a nurse.

My period is a serious chronic condition. Not joking - I bleed buckets. I have to empty out a full menstrual cup as much as three times a day. It's called menhorraghia, and it's hell to deal with 7 days of the month.

That said, I've never asked anyone to take care of it for me. I would never expect someone to.

The last man I was with couldn't survive a temporary illness without driving me up a wall.

i don't believe in marriage, but i would partner up with someone with a chronic illness. i would not have children with them if the illness was genetic.

I married a perfectly healthy guy. He had a near death experience that left him requiring long-term care with permanent physical issues. I did everything to care for him. I didn't mind, I loved him. What I did mind, was whenever I got sick, he was a total a$$hole to me. Would I do it again? Not a chance.
