If you’re familiar with what some have coined the Manosphere, you know well that some of its more prolific voices have been cogitating on this question for a good minute now. Some suggest that, since Game is the “killer app” of the postmodern dating/sexing Western World, it will fundamentally change the way we do business along those lines. Others have opined, that Game itself will continue to “mutate” under the current socioeconomic climate.

Whatever the case, what seems inevitable to this humble scribe, is that the Mancession will most certainly be a “game changer” in terms of how people meet, the proverbial Boy and Girl thing. The traditional “date”, long withering away on the vine, will in my view be a footnote in American history come the end of this decade, if that long, the final nail driven in the casket by the recent economic downturn. Fellow Gamesman Ferdinand Bardamu has suggested that nightlife industries in the major cities will go into decline as a result of Guys Being Broke. Personally, I tend to agree with that assessment, although the final verdict on that score remains to be seen.

So, that leaves a bit of speculating as to how Boy Meets Girl during the Great Recession: what, do you say, dear reader? Do you think most people will still hookup via the niteclub scene? If so/not, why?

Two quick observations, and then a warning to those who’s tendency it is to go off the rails before I hand off the rock to you, my esteemed readers:

1. I think the Mancession is the perfect proving ground of a Man’s Game, because the conditions are such that it quickly reveals and separates the contenders from the pretenders. Guys with little to no Game at all HAVE to rely on their wallets; Gamesmen almost never make upfront investments like that. In fact, it’s always been my view that the best time for a Man to learn and refine his Craft, is when he’s flat broke, or damn near it.

2. If History is any indication-and here I cite as a reference point the Victorian work My Secret Life: Autobiography of a Victorian Gentleman-we WILL see a resurgence of Whoredom very soon, if it hasn’t begun already. By that I mean, not in the official sense-legalized prostitution still has a ways to go on American shores overall-but in terms of the general population of sexually available Women, 18 to 44, let’s say. Times are hard, and if you read the aforementioned work, you’d be surprised what Women can and will do in these economically strapped times.

And now, a warning:

I am not interested in discussing anything off topic, or, from hearing from “outliers” in any way, shape, form or fashion. I don’t care if “Game doesn’t work on you”, or if “you would never do” thus and so. If this is your response to what is being written here, please save it for your blog, if you have one, or someone else’s. The issues have been clearly laidout and presented. I am interested in how the Mancession changes the American dating/mating scene, if at all. What you do or don’t do as a distinct numerical minority is none of my concern or interest, nor of that of my readership. Failure to participate in the freely admitted precisely structured way this post outlines will result in summary deletion without comment or observation of any kind.

OK, with all that said: Comments?
