Stories pop up on my news feed from time to time that defy credulity.  Take for instance this story out of Sweden.  A man cuts himself deep enough to need stitches, so he goes to the health clinic only to find that it is closed.  In Sweden they apparently have a ‘medical help’ line that people can call.  When he dialed said number, he was told that they clinic shouldn’t be closed.

Helpful, huh?

He ends up going to the emergency room to get stitched up, and of course since his injury is non-life threatening he gets to wait.  Eventually he is so fed up waiting that he takes the needle and thread that had been set out to sew him up, and he does the job himself.  No mention of whether he’d had a local anesthetic.

The hospital staff are so incensed by his initiative that they reported him to the local authorities.  His crime?  Criminal dispossession for using hospital equipment without authorization.

I think it was P.J. O’Rourke who Dubbed Sweden as ‘the socialist economy that works….mostly.’
