Recently some women marched topless in Portland, Maine to protest for topless women being treated the same as topless men. The march was organized by Ty McDowell who was enraged at the men who were attracted by the march. This was despite the fact that some of the marchers posed for pictures. McDowell is planning more marches where she will be more “aggressive” in “discouraging” men who she thinks are watching the marches too much.
This march was attention whoring because Maine law says that it is only illegal to show genitals in public. In other words, it is legal in Maine for women to be topless (and this is why none of the women were arrested for marching topless). There is no reason except attention whoring to march to treat topless women the same as topless men in Maine because legally that is already the case. Since attention whoring was the purpose of this topless march, it is absurd for Ty McDowell to complain about men watching the march.
What Ty McDowell really wants is to be topless anywhere, but force men to not look at her while she is topless. Like with so many things, Ty McDowell is a woman trying to have it both ways. Either you’re in public and anyone can look at you or you’re not. That’s the truth of the matter, and anything else is attention whoring.
