To court the female vote, leaders of Britain’s major political parties are polishing up their beta credentials. Political commentators are allegedly calling the pending election the “Mumsnet election,” in reference to a UK mommy blog, which is one of thousands of feminist blogs catering to mothers.
I have no idea whether this will work, but there’s always the chance that it will backfire, as women could come to view them as contemptuous beta males. If history – recent and distant – is any indication, female voters prefer men to be alphas. Political leaders who were particularly popular with women include Idi Amin, Adolf Hitler, Chairman Mao, Josef Stalin, Kim il-Sung, Fidel Castro and Genghis Khan, as well as other less notorious tyrants. I can’t imagine any of these men, who were so passionately coveted by their countrywomen, would don an apron and talk about baking cookies. In fact, it would appear from the record that the best route into the hearts of one’s female subjects/constituents is to be a totalitarian mass murderer.
Of course, things are a bit different today, and the age of world-dominating alphas has been replaced by the age of cheesy pop star and athlete alphas, so perhaps the old rules no longer apply. Still, given the contempt women have expressed concerning their kitchen bitch husbands, I think the British politicians may be taking the wrong tack. In fact, having an affair or two might do more for their popularity with women, given the female adulation of JFK and Bill Clinton.
Maybe some of the Game proponents out there could write up some of their thoughts on how to court the female vote. I’ll bet Roissy could give far better campaign advice for male politicians than some feminist consultant, not to mention a mommy blog…
