I was still sick on Wednesday, so there’s not actually much to report. I slept about 18 hours of the day, so we had very little interaction. I did, however, begin bringing my Game in some of the smallest ways:

I’ve begun my attempt to eradicate the words “I’m sorry” from my vocabulary. This is very difficult for me to do, as they have become a reflexive response in many situations. I use the words to express empathy… instead, all I’m expressing is BETA. I will have to find other words for empathy. Also, in many situations where once I would have said “I’m sorry” I have begun responding in other ways – silence works sometimes, also playful teasing. Still working this one.

Likewise, I am attempting to eliminate the words “I don’t know” or “whatever” as a response to any question looking for my opinion. I am attempting to replace them with definite language.

Old Conversation

Hermione: What are your plans for the evening?
Me: I dunno, what are your plans?
Hermione: Whatever
Me: Whatever

New Conversation

Hermione: What are your plans for the evening?
Me: I’m going to work for a bit, then I’m going to come out and watch some TV with you.
Hermione: [smile] OK.
Me: [to myself] Shit, this game stuff kind of works…

Hard to say this early. Tentative foray is looking good, but I haven’t started any of the truly disruptive parts of game yet. Also, not much to report on just because we had so little interaction today. Some of my Game inspired changes are causing her to think I’m grumpy. As of today, she’s just chalking it up to me being sick. That’s fine for now, probably helps lessen the shock. Overall, things are looking positive.
