There comes a time when you should break it off with a girl, but the question is when?

The answer is easy.

As soon as you’re imagining some other girl when you are having sex with her, it is time to move on.

Whether that’s the first week, or six months or whenever.  It is not getting better at this point.  Whether you admit it or not, you have become bored with the girl.  As soon as you start imagining another woman, you are now spending mental energy internally on maintaining arousal.

This will, not may, will, impact your performance with the girl.  Your “lovemaking” will become progressively more routine and mechanical.

There are certain stop gaps you can use to try and prevent this.

  1. Limit the time with her.  This will prolong your interest in her, however, perversely women, at the point you are becoming bored, will expect more time, not less.
  2. See more than one woman.  Variety is the spice of life.
  3. Create emotional turmoil.  A relationship with more ups and downs will have more life, sadly.
  4. Involve yourself in relationships that are secret:  Be the other guy in an affair.  This may have more to do with the limited time, the possibility of other women and the emotional turmoil it fosters, but I still throw it out there.
  5. Take a break from her, this could end up being a full break.
  6. Engage in new, dangerous or wild forms of sex (of course if you could do this before and weren’t I have to ask why you weren’t?)

None of these things will keep it alive indefinitely.

If you use a condom (I am not commenting on the wisdom of not using one and STDs and pregnancy) the time before Boredom Requires Internal Epic Fantasy (BRIEF) is one-fourth what it is without a condom.  Condoms are enough of a sensual kill joy that I secretly suspect that a feminist invented them to prevent any kind of emotional bond from occurring between a  man and a woman.

So sex with an adventurous, generous and sweet seven may be a joyous experience for 6 months without a condom.  It will barely make it to the six week mark with a condom.

A man that has to think of another woman while having sex is not going to be as bonded to the girl.

Now it has been said that fantasy is a healthy part of a sex life.  What fantasy is truly, is a necessary part of a monogamous sex life.

If you persist in staying with the girl out of some misguided sense of loyalty, or belief that it won’t get any better, you will find yourself having to imagine different girls in order to be aroused and the fantasies in your head will become more detailed and your performance will plummet.

Take my advice, do yourself and her a favor and move on.  It won’t get better with her, it will get better in the arms of another woman.

For those of you in a long-term committed relationship, I recommend reading her erotica while in bed to get things going.
