Science Daily reports on a story from Wake Forest University about the ups and downs of relationships affecting men more than women (in the 18-23 year old age bracket). My first reaction without reading it fully was that this shouldn’t be a surprise in the current sexual marketplace. Many men have limited access while women find it easier to trade up. Upon reading further there was this quote,
For young men, their romantic partners are often their primary source of intimacy — in contrast to young women who are more likely to have close relationships with family and friends. Strain in a current romantic relationship may also be associated with poor emotional well-being because it threatens young men’s identity and feelings of self-worth
Women have bigger social support groups. Tell me something I don’t know. Dig a little deeper into the article and you find this was a study based on data collected for an entirely different study. Never mind, pseudo-science continues apace.
