I was at an outdoor market and people were selling their wares.
One booth had three attractive cougars wearing Team Edward, Team Jacob and a general Twilight Shirt . Could she be the heretofore unknown Team Bella? Who cares.
The fact that people even discuss the fact that women are more interested in male predators in the novel than the empty shell of a female protagonist without conning to the truth is stunning.
I wondered though if men did the same thing, how would the world react? If men started wearing shirts with their favorite porn stars on them. Team Jenna or whatever and if people would wonder why there was no Team Mandingo.
You don’t usually see the faces of women on mens’ T-Shirts.
You do see children’s movies getting attacked for being sexist and too male. And in the spirit of blogging (and the movie 300) I am going to comment on an article commenting on an article that Toy Story 3 is sexist, because there is just no point going to the source when a secondary source makes me feel just as educated on a subject.
Toy story has more male toys than female toys in it. Kind of like engineering in college. Cry me a river.
Second, “mother in the movie is depicted as ‘nagging.’” Who knew that a cartoon could be so dedicated to realism?
Then “Barbie is shown as “over emotional” and “hyper-feminine.” Her packaged partner in crime, Ken, is painted as a “closeted gay fashionista” who is constantly teased. Wilson worries that depictions like this will teach children, especially boys, that being female or homosexual is wrong—or at least something to laugh at.
Ok, go back to all the screaming, orgasmic “Twilight Moms” above and tell me again why women shouldn’t be laughed at?
This made me laugh: Most of these movies (older Disney movies and cartoons) teach boys that all girls want is a handsome man with lots of money. Not really an inspiring message.
Yet, I daresay more accurate than most of equalist crap that gets fed down their throats to make them good little dutiful pedestalizers.
