There seems to be quite a bit of rumination on where things are headed at the moment, the influence of Roissy and his brutal assessment of the war between the sexes, and the men’s movement. It is war too, one in which the men have been losing, resulting in their increasing subjugation.
Society’s view of men is that they are: sexist, racist, stupid, violent harassers that are unimportant. The problem society is going to have with these labels is that at some point men, instead of walking slump shouldered through life and feeling guilty, will embrace them.
This will be a very dangerous time.
Roissy is getting more attention from those that oppose his world view. Currently, the tactic being used is an attempt to shame him and anyone that sees any truth in his perspective. This will not work.
Quite the opposite, the more attention he gets, the more people will seek him out. Many will reject him after reading his blog, because it is too painful to realize that you have been living in a lie, but his statements about the human condition will gnaw at them.
Others will get angry and bitter. Still, the ideas will spread until it hits the mainstream. At that time the shaming will grow to a hysterical(and I mean that in both the humorous and histrionic way) level just as the main media attacked the town hall protesters, including making fun of the clothing they wore. I almost feel embarrassed for anyone that uses high school tactics to denounce a foe. Wait, that’s loathing.
I expect that many bloggers and posters are going to get “outed.” In an attempt to have a chilling effect on what people write and say on the internet. This will expose the situation more, not less. Information wants to be free. Men that have thought they were isolated and alone will suddenly realize what has been bothering them subconsciously. That they are not alone, that in fact a great number of men feel the way they do.
We live in a society that no longer has any social or moral cohesion. Prosperity has kept it together and now that the prosperity is ending. Laws will be passed to try and suppress many of the thoughts expressed, but in indirect ways.
Society already has a thicket of laws out there, but more laws will be passed until it is impossible to not break the law every day, going through the normal course of life. It is close to that point already, if not past it.
The day you cannot go without breaking the law, will be the day that people see all the laws as optional based on personal morality.
Men will increasingly come to the realization that their options in life are:
- Continued victimization
- Going John Galt
- Being a criminal
There are some that hold out the forlorn hope that society will recognize the plight of men and change. This is, almost certainly, a false hope. Our society is now matrist, not patriarchal. The concerns of men, have to become the concerns of women in order for this change to come about.
A group that sees the majority of men at best as asexual competitors in the work place. Younger women see no reason to end the party life they are living, and older women are becoming increasingly bitter and blaming men for the frustrations in life.
It will take more than talking to change society.
The word “revolution” is showing up more frequently in the media. If one believes in Jungian psychology, then the idea of actual revolution is percolating through the collective subconscious. It takes a very small percentage of the population to cause significant upheaval if they become violent.
I do not advocate violence. Change can be achieved through passive resistance (including the wholesale abandonment of the dead institution of marriage) but we are not at the point where enough men recognize the problem. Where enough men have had enough. That day is coming.
Will it be soon enough? Or will the United States fall into civil war, dictatorships or break into tiny republics?
I have no answer for that.
