I am not talking evolution. I’m talking breeding. Just as men have taken the wolf and bred those characteristics that they have found valuable into all the various breeds that we have today, men have selected certain characteristics in women that predominate today.
The obvious one is beauty. When there is a dearth of men, then the most beautiful women tend to reproduce and the rest lose out in the mating game (See Eastern Europe and Russia).
However, there is one characteristic that has also been selected for in both dogs and women: Neoteny.
Neoteny is the juvenilization, or even retention into adulthood of the infantile characteristics of a species. The retention of characteristics that are typically exhibited in the young of the species and not an adult.
In dogs, not only do we breed all the myriad types, but we also want the animal to be playful as an adult. We want our pets to be fun. Being playful is a juvenile characteristic in animals.
In humans, neoteny involves many different factors, most importantly the growth of the brain. While almost all species have most of their brain mass at birth, and finish their brain growth after a year, humans brain growth continues for a couple decades.
We are playful, and curious, and childlike throughout our lives.
Obviously, when looking at the two genders, there is a considerable amount of paedomorphosis with the female gender. They are smaller, their bodies are weaker, they have less hair, their skin is softer, their faces are less strong.
In some ape species there is little difference between the male and the female in terms of strength and ability. Not so for humans.
There is considerable difference between a child and an adult woman, but there is just as much difference between the woman and the man. The differences are not just physical though. There is psychological neoteny.
Not only have men been selecting women for beauty, they have been selecting them for being childlike. A woman that was more childlike was more fun as a partner. The unfortunate side effect is that women as a group tend to live in the moment just as children do, without thinking about the long term impact of their choices and consequences. They are more emotional. Despite what our current society pushes about emotional health, existing like this is incredibly destructive.
Their thinking tends to be emotionally driven with rationalization, instead of the male’s emotionally guided rationalism. The entire focus on “happiness” is female and emotionally driven. If you are living, instead of wallowing, there is no time for worrying about being happy, you are being.
This difference is why viewing men and women as equal is such a problem. The reality is that men are the closest thing our species has to responsible adults. Women are not.
Like a teenager (for that is what they are essentially), they want all the rights of adulthood, but they want to keep the privileges and the lack of the responsibility of childhood. If you think of feminism as a prolonged rebellion by teenagers from their fathers, or in fact the behaviors of all women being the behavior of a rebellious teenager, you are on the path to wisdom.
What other period of life is more fraught with emotions and drives that are barely contained and controlled? What other time is there when the frustrations of being almost adult, mix with still having a child’s needs?
Women expect everything to work out in their favor, they want the best in everything especially in terms of status and they never grow out of this mindset.
It reminds me of the difference between the original Little Mermaid and the feminized version Disney kicked out. In the original story the little mermaid pays for her poor decisions with her life. In the newer version, her father saves her from the consequences.
Men do not do women any favors by protecting them. The feminists are right, the patriarchy exists and it still tries to minimize the consequences for them. In today’s society we must set aside that misguided gallantry, if we want women to change, they must suffer for their bad choices like any other adult.
