I pull out of my driveway and accelerate to the corner a short half block away.  I come to a full stop and look both ways.  A guy in a honda pilot is creeping towards the intersection looking at me.  I sit and wait for the guy as he creeps across the intersection, looking at me and shaking his head.  I mouth the words ‘Fuck off, bitch” at him.  I am stopped.  In my mind there was no reason for this guy to be overreacting in such a manner.  The fact that I am forced to sit at the intersection while he moves through at 20mph slower than he should have is pissing me off.

LTR:  Hey, you scared him, you don’t need to say that.

Al:  I really don’t care if he is scared.  I’m stopped, he needs to move his ass.  I need coffee.

LTR:  You don’t care if he was unsure if you were going to pull out in front of him?

Al:  Nope, I couldn’t care less what he thinks.

Blessed silence.  A few minutes later,

LTR:  Whose opinion do you care about?

AL: (the first thing that pops into my mind is – no one’s, but that’s really not right.  There are still a few). If they aren’t part of my immediate family then their opinion’s don’t matter.

I’ve realized that most people I run into day in and day out I will never meet again.  I will not spend any effort to conform to their expectations.  Some that I do run into often I only know superficially.  Again, I refuse to spend any effort to conform to their expectations.  I’ve come to view the expectations of those around me as their attempt to shackle me.  The deeper I go down the rabbit hole since swallowing the red pill, the more the facade slips, the more I say what’s on my mind.  The more I asked pointed questions that expose the pretty lies.   The more people are shocked that I would question the foundations on which they have built their self-image.
