The male doctor was caught "re-infibulating" a women. She had had her labia lips mutilated and then sewn-up previously. After she gave birth, the doctor sewed her up again, with I guess, the husbands "help" and urging. He is the co-defendant I would imagine.

I hope they both get locked-up.

Interestingly of course, the women will not be charged I would imagine, even though she no-doubt consented to the procedure. Indeed, some women are adamant that they be re-infibulated, and are the main drivers of the genital mutilation of their daughters.

This is excellent news for the fight against male "circumcision" ie: male genital mutilation. One of the main reason prosecutions have taken so long, is that the religious forces who support MGM know that the next step is the banning of their abuse of infant boys.

I would like someone who believes female genital mutilation to be worse than male genital mutilation to explain to me in detail, precisely what is meant by the terms "female genital mutilation" , "male genital mutilation", "worse" and by what metric they are comparing the the two. My guess is that for those who do this, the intellectual dishonesty of their position will be exposed in their explanation. I presume this because both types of genital mutilation admit of many different procedures with greatly varying degrees of severity. Several of the male forms can be considered more harmful, or "worse", than some of the female forms, provided that what we are measuring as harm is something objective such as the total loss of erogenous nerves or tissue volume, rather than our subjective evaluation of the value of male and female body parts. The fact of the matter is that the people who make such an argument, value the bodies of females more than males, and are compelled to obscure the moral repugnance of this position with the confident, yet entirely uninformed assertion that, of course, female genital mutilation is worse than male genital mutilation.
