Guys, just for the record, Breitbart.com is definitely NOT the source we want to use for making our arguments. This is almost like citing the National Inquirer. These guys are global warming deniers, evolution deniers and have been caught numerous times literally fabricating controversy. We have science, facts and overwhelming evidence on our side here, the last thing we need is to start linking these hacks, whether they may have an actual point or not.

Pretty good. And obviously the 77 cent thing is a lie.

I don't think the free market logic is completely foolproof though. There's no way that women could be paid 23% less for the same work (otherwise companies that employ mostly women would be incredibly successful), but 5% less is possible. I'd guess 2% myself.

People may misperceive how much work people are doing. In a big company it's easy to misjudge.

People who follow baseball know that moneyball was based on exploiting market inefficiencies. Teams overpaid for stolen bases and underpaid for walks. If the free market was working 100%, there would be no inefficiencies to exploit.

fat people are paid less
blonde women earn 7% more
women who wear makeup earn 30% more
handsome men earn more

Now some of these may not reflect discrimination (eg. tall men may be paid more in part because they've always been taller. So they assumed leadership roles when growing up, which means they are more skilled leaders. Or tall men are more likely to be married, which means they are more likely to need to support a family, which means they pursue high-pay jobs. Or tall men are better suited to physical jobs and thus deserve more pay.)

But I have a hard time believing that all of these pay differences simply reflect ability.

It is all obama has left. His Bush level approval ratings and once popular democrats are now seeing double digit leads turn into negatives.

This is just his PATHETIC and desperate way of trying to save his and his democrats asses. Parrot bs and hope female voters buy it.

There is a chapter in Similism on the job market and how to deal with "low income jobs" vs "high income jobs" to create gender equality without wealth re-distribution.

Basically if we would expand our gender roles a touch that would create a situation with about a 50-50% mix of women and men in both low income jobs as well as high income jobs and by doing that the wage gap disappears. What do you think?
