I discovered “Wundergeek” back in 2011 when she did her review of Gencon. A friend of mine was working in the Dealer’s Room that year, dressed willingly in a completely modest maid outfit, but to Wundergeek this was such a crime and clearly must not be voluntary, so her face had to be blurred out in the photo on Wundergeek’s blog. Yes, Wundergeek took a picture of this girl without her permission just to post her picture on the internet and claim she was a victim of the patriarchy.

Wundergeek is the type of feminists whose primary complaints are “Women aren’t clothed enough to my liking” and “If there’s not enough women in this, it’s bad.” She also, as indicated by that blog post, has such a loose grip on reality that she honestly believes that if she doesn’t like something, it’s automatically bad. While I do typically enjoy female characters more than males, if a game company chooses not to include women in their game, that’s their decision, not a slap in the face to me because guess what? I don’t feel entitled to have everything catered to my gender.

Yes, I’m not male. However, I believe the attitude Wundergeek, her devoted followers, and people like her possess is absolutely petty, counterproductive, and insulting. I’m probably classed as some type of feminist because I believe in “empowering” women insomuch that they feel comfortable with their gender and themselves, and are willing to take on jobs and hobbies that are usually considered “men’s territory”, but I do not support the idea that everything that makes a woman feel bad is a man’s fault or that women can do no wrong. I also don’t support this idea that just because a female character has some skin showing, she must be a sex object. Nor do I support the idea that everything must include my gender.

I tried to argue with her on her Gencon blog, forcing her to start deleting posts and put up an “anti troll” policy… because apparently anyone with a dissenting opinion is just a troll. Nevermind the fact that she’s also guilty of getting hostile with people in the same manner on other people’s blogs. There were more posts on that blog where she outright called people idiots for disagreeing with her, but they’ve since been deleted. I know I had a post there calling her out on it, but I don’t see it anymore.

Wundergeek has it out for Blizzard and… well... anyone who draws women in a way she doesn’t like. The best part of it is, instead of just sticking to criticism of the attire, she starts nitpicking proportions even if they’re not that bad, and in spite of that fact that often hers are just as bad if not worse}. Could the lack of real-world head, waist, bust, and eye sizes be stylization? NOPE! Misogyny!

It doesn’t matter who the character is and whether or not they’re supposed to be a strong independent character, if they don’t wear head to toe armour with their breasts and butt fully covered, they’re a sex object. Think about that one. Isn’t she just perpetuating something any good feminist is supposed to be against? Perceiving women by how they look rather than how they act and who they are on the inside? I don’t see any of these characters as degrading to me at all. I play Tera, and I play a Castanic. Why? Because I feel my character is strong and Castanics in general are a “I’m not going to take your shit” race because I gasp am actually capable of looking at a character for more than just their lack of clothing.

She also is primarily reactionary and hardly thinks beyond “It makes me mad, so it must be wrong. I should throw a temper tantrum on my blog so my hugbox can make me feel like I’m right.” as indicated by her outrage at Kotobikuya’s Bishojou Liara figure where she was under the impression that the figure was official merch (it wasn’t) and actually sent an email to Bioware because she didn’t like the figure.

Even if an artist promotes themselves as a pin-up or erotic artist, apparently the fact that they depict feminine sexuality is demeaning towards women. Exposed boobs? MISOGYNY!. That’s right, kids, female sexuality is big bad no-no if it’s created by a man.

I could go on with how absolutely pathetic her blog is, but it’s as big as her ego so I’m not going to bother spending hours trying to remember every instance of stupid.

I figured I’d post this here because I know you guys ~love~ these types of self-absorbed, uptight, petty loudmouth “feminists”.

She made another post

Someone, presumably from this Reddit, commented on her last blog entry as "Whothehellcares" saying "why don't you make your own damn games", which was quickly replaced by [deleted]. She leaves a little footnote at the end of this entry that's an obvious potshot at whoever made that comment.

Dressed conservatively: slut-shaming!

Shy, introverted, weak: damsel trope!

Outgoing, strong, confident: man with boobs!
