He stopped receiving the money from which the child support was being taken from. The Judge ordered that he would still have to pay child support but not until the court determined a new amount that would fit his changed income. He could not be held in contempt for violating the previous order for child support, meaning he didn't have to pay and there would be no consequence for doing so.

When he challenged DHS saying that they couldn't enforce the child support without a new order from the judge they told him they could do what they wanted regardless of the court.

A big problem I have with this is all the excuses people come up with like it's not a real problem and they should not be held accountable for threatening to ruin a mans life. People are overworked and underpaid all over the country an they're still held accountable for their actions. It might even be forgivable if they simply admitted they fucked up rather than blaming computer problems or lack of attention which is bullshit since he contacted them multiple times.

Where did you see this in the article? All I see is that he would not be in contempt if he did not pay.

He could not be held in contempt for violating the previous order for child support, meaning he didn't have to pay and there would be no consequence for doing so.

It doesn't mean he doesn't have to pay, necessarily. It just means that the court won't go after him if he doesn't. It doesn't say anything about collections agencies or anything like that. It doesn't say anything about not owing support - it just says that he won't be held in contempt.

Which is obviously fucked up. However, in this instance, as long as they have a standing order they can pursue it. The only way to have them not pursue it would be to rescind it, which the judge did not do.
