Just a sort of thought exercise. Just for fun. Inspired by the recent discussion about imputed wages.

Currently, divorce seems to be something that makes a lot of money for lawyers.

I wonder how our society would change if our laws were different. What would things be like if there was no such thing as child support. And during divorce, the children always went to the highest income earner and the other parent gets every-other-weekend visitation. And what if property were divided by a licensed "divorcer" that examined what was brought to the marriage and what was brought in by each person during the marriage: material possessions are divided by the material contribution.

I like the idea that divorce is quick - and less painful than it is now.

I like the idea that kids are in one household, and that household is the one that has the best ability to support.

Sure there are exceptions. Just as there are exceptions now.
