I have 1 child age 13 and another age 9 by two different mothers. The 9 year old's mother is owed upwards of 20k in back support from me. I have reached a point in my life where I want to start taking responsibility but this debt and connected punishments (suspended lic) are making it impossible for me to move forward.

I want to enroll in a professional degree program and start earning more money but this debt is making it impossible. I am aware that I need a family law counselor but I have nowhere near the funds to afford this.

I am ready to step up I just need to know how to begin. Can anyone here recommend a pro-bono or non-profit family law firm or something equiv in FL.

FACTS:

  • My 9 year old's mother and I were never married.

  • There is no custody arrangement

  • I have made little to no money since the child was born except some small under-the table jobs. I am not proud of this at all but I have reached my peak and I am ready to take responsibility.

  • My lic. is suspended as a result of non-payment

  • I owe a little over 20,000.00 in back support

  • my 13 yr old lives with me and has since he was born. no money is owed

Any advice you guys can give me will be hugely appreciated. I am ready I just need to know how to start. Thank you
