I've recently found Men's Rights, and I have to say that what I've always suspected from society is unfortunately confirmed with the stories I see posted here. I know all too many men who have been duped into a relationship by their partner's use of sex to control them, guilt to humble and batter them, and in a few cases, physical abuse to cower them. I constantly try to help my friends, but to no avail. Even having presented them with pamphlets about abusive relationships, they choose to stay in the relationship for one sole reason: the sex.
So over the years, I've come to the conclusion that the only real power we have is in what we do with our bodies. And to that end, I'm certain that many of us will agree that once a man is hooked on the sweet candy provided to him, it's extremely difficult to break free of that grasp.
But before the sex starts, there's always that relationship. It builds up slowly and carefully, sometimes as a plot to control the significant other. Those situations aren't common, but they stick out the most to those of us aware of men who are in controlling relationships.
So based on what I've seen in my life and with my friends, and based on what I see here, all I can surmise that we as men can do in the hope of securing at least legal, if not social equality, is to distance ourselves from romantic and sexual relationships. To that end, I propose the following: 1. I will avoid romantic and sexual relationships with women who do not clearly and fully understand how men are legally discriminated against and who do not support true equality between the sexes. 2. I will practice celibacy in all cases where a legally recognized pre-nuptial agreement has not been reached. 3. I will not allow myself to enter into a social situation in which I may be taken advantage of by someone seeking to subjugate me through the use of discriminatory laws. 4. I will actively discuss with my friends and family to spread knowledge of male discrimination in the legal system. 5. I will lobby with my political representatives to pursue their education of legal male discrimination. I will do this in the effort to change laws so that true equality between the sexes is reached. 6. I will actively avoid and shun social, political, and work relationships with persons who actively support the legal discrimination against men. I will not act discriminatory towards them nor will I, if forced to interact with them, act aggressive or dismissive towards them. In fighting for equality, I must treat all persons with dignity and respect.
Men, I urge you to do the same and to speak with your friends and relations about doing the same. I do not have a bra to burn, but I have one half of a relationship that I will not make available until I have equal rights, no matter how long that takes.
