Quotas are inherently unfair, that I'll admit. It's an issue of balance really. They're not, or, at least, I don't think they should, last forever. They're a temporary corrective measure.

Under the status quo, the system is biased towards men, unfairly. What this system introduces is an unfair bias towards women, that corrects the system's bias towards men, allowing women to enter into the establishment. Once that is complete the artificial bias, having destroyed the natural bias, can be removed, leaving true equality and fairness.

This institutional bias needs to be corrected, since it is far more damaging than this 3 year quota that is only trying to slightly dent the male dominance within the college, and men will have to suffer and lose privilege for it. It's not a perfect solution, but I'm not sure what else would be.

Yeah but this is in India is not the US(i am assuming you are american). India still has problems with female infanticide. Along with China, they are the only 2 countries in that have higher mortality rates for females than male.

How can you pass judgement on a society see females as useless/worthless. Just because the US has problems with feminists does not mean that other nations feminist movements are the same. My guess is that in India they are trying to educate the population that having a baby girl is ok.

In China, there are 76 male infant deaths for every 100 female infant deaths compared with 122 male infant deaths for every 100 female infant deaths in the developing world as a whole. When it comes to the child mortality sex ratio, however, India is far and away the world's worst. In the 2000s, there were 56 male child deaths for every 100 female, compared with 111 in the developing world.
