Is this really the best article to be posting here? The author's partial conclusion was that it's because women are still saddled with most of the childcare work. It removes discrimination as a cause and replaces it with unequal roles in raising children instead. Not really an improvement.

Note in chemistry women were almost twice as likely as men to get a job if they applied.
