I keep browsing images of athletes (typical a-types) and then of like indie/hipster musicians (typical b-nice-guy types). And it looks like a huge difference...

What do you do in situations where you don't know anything about it? Say car repair?

I listen respectfully. He's the expert.

What do you do when some guy starts AMOGGING you about how he'snows this that and the other about car repair and you don't know anything.

If he's shit testing me I start asking him questions about the campaigns of Emperor Trajian or the battle tactics Scipio Africanis used to hand Hannibal his ass, and usually get a blank look in return. This doesn't usually happen because I'm not going to challenge his expertise in an area I know nothing about. I wouldn't fight Bruce Lee, either, but I'll learn from him: "Be hard where the enemy is soft. Be water where he tries to strike."

And starts giving you shit about it.

If this is an ongoing thing, I'd probably avoid him after a while. If it's a one time thing, I'd keep frame. My frame in this case isn't I am better than you, it is You are the expert and I will learn from you and THEN I will be better than you. Keep amused mastery, but take it as an opportunity to learn.

Meanwhile there is a girl in the vicinity? How are you going to handle that?

Who cares? There is literally nothing - not one single thing - in my life that I do for the approval of a woman, with the exception of making dinner for my grandmother. If she likes my hamburger fettuccine, I'll consider it a win, but some random sloot wandering by? Pshaw. Who cares?
