What a strange article. As far as I can tell, it seems to be saying that granting women the right to vote is a bad thing? How very... misogynistic.

I'll be honest, this article is pretty shit, misogynist, anti-women's rights, all that bad stuff. It's also built on some pretty shakey premises.

This is the shakiest premise: Women vote in favour of welfare and big government because they want a safety net.

This is really just wild speculation on the part of the write really, they have no way to prove this. They don't at any point consider that maybe women tend to vote democrat, because the republican party tends to be pretty opposed to women's rights, which seems to be the obvious thing to me. It's the same reason that ethnic minorities tend to vote democrat, because the republican party is pretty much against them.

The only bit of proof they claim to have in favour of this idea, is the fact that young women tend to be more liberal, married women tend to be more conservative and divorced women tend to be liberal. There's a much better explanation for this than "They just want all the government's money!"

Firstly, young people tend to be more liberal than older people anyway. That's just true, that's how it is.

Secondly, as I said before, young women are more likely to support the democrats than the republicans, because the republicans are often seen as anti-feminist and anti-women. Particularly now with issues about things like birth control and abortion.

Thirdly, as people get older, especially when they have children, they get more conservative. They start caring more about their own security and, more importantly, the security of their children. In British politics we put people into generalised groups about who we think they will vote for. One such group is "Schoolgate mum", the middle-class mother who is primarily concerned about things like crime and education, because she's looking out for her kids. "Schoolgate mum" usually votes Conservative (the British right-wing party).

Plus, this idea that women get more conservative until they get divorced flies in the face of what the article talks about earlier;

single women who believe they may marry in the future, as well as married women who most fear divorce, look to the government as a form of protection against this risk from a possible divorce

I don't even know why I'm bothering to pick apart this article though, it's clearly rubbish. It comes about a step away from openly declaring that women shouldn't have the vote, and is about two steps away from going, "The women are making us communist!".

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention the shakiest premise of all, "women shouldn't be allowed to vote because they're liberal!"

Uh, someone doesn't seem to understand how democracy works.
