So, I know that this is not entirely specifically a men's rights issue, but I feel like you guys could possibly give me some advice. I recently applied for a position at my wife's company. I was picked for a phone interview, and was told near the end of it that I would be hearing back earlier this week for scheduling an in-person. Then I get an email from HR saying that they were passing on me. Here is where it gets interesting...

The position that I applied for is in a separate department from where my wife is, and there is a guy in this one that has a crush on her (for the sake of this, we'll call him John). When one of her close co-workers asked about me and that job, she told him what happened and his response was that John probably got it thrown out because it would be hard for him to work with the husband of the person he has a crush on.

She has also expressed to me that he makes her uncomfortable around the office. He doesn't do anything specific or outward, but she sees him staring at her, he sends her flirty, semi-work related emails, and for a while was taking her coffee mug from the dishwasher to her desk in the mornings (just hers, not anyone else's).

I suggested that she take this up with HR, and file a complaint, because she is clearly uncomfortable with him, and I don't think she should be forced to wait for him to do something out of hand to complain (or if he does do something inappropriate, she would have already voiced an issue before-hand), but she is reluctant to do so because of a fear of being stigmatized. Additionally, if we can get proof that John did in fact kill my ability to get the job because of his attraction to my wife, is there any recourse to be had there?

I know that this is not something that is entirely related to the movement, but I've seen a number of posts regarding sexual harassment in the workplace, and figured someone here would likely be able to give me some advice. Also, John =/= the actual name.
