Many of the problems we discuss in /r/MensRights start in childhood. We often use words like misandry and misogyny, but what about the hatred of children? Is there a word for that?

Turns out there is: misopedia

Why does this matter? Two reasons.

First, language matters (*). Words shape thought. The first step to solving a problem is naming it.

Second, some of our battles, such as infant circumcision, are not entirely about boys or men. They're about a fear of helplessness, innocence, and the need to defile children.

Know your enemy.

(*) If you read this link, the author focuses on male perpetrators. Please remember there are plenty of female misopedists to go around.
