Need some opinions from the more experienced guys, I will try to make this as short as possible.
I am a 26 yo who was born into a highly disfunctional family, my parents (were too young) divorced when I was 2 and I went to live with my grandmother(who paid all the bills), my mother, aunt and grand grandmother.
My grandfather was an alcoholic, my aunt became one too while having schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, my mother had anger issues, drank and partied way too much, shitty jobs(if that), basically a child.
In the next 26 years, I saw all sorts of physical and verbal abuse, in between them and towards myself, I developed anger issues (which I overcame for the most part).
The situation today is: 1- my grandfather died years ago from liver failure.
2- my aunt still has mental problems, is an alcoholic and drug(cocaine), shitty job but independent, whories my grandmother non stop because she basically get drunk and high out of her mind frequently on the streets, like a homeless person, I heard rumors that she is involved with drug dealers (the kind that live in favelas, have all kinds of guns and die young due to confront with others drug dealers and the police). Talked to her recently about it, she basically said to me that she does things like that because she wants to die, so, won't stop.
3- my grandmother is getting old, I suspect that she is developing some kind of early dementia or Alzheimer (all her 6 older brothers died with Alzheimer), she basically financially supports me (I am a student) and I plan to take care of her until the end of her life. But, the thing is, she doesn't take any responsibility(AWALT) , blames everyone for everything (mostly me), has a deep need to make everyone like her, care too fucking much about what others think of her (egocentric), is constantly trying to use guilt to make me do things that she was supposed to do(the financial support isn't free from conditions) and did not because she didn't want to upset anyone (mostly my mother, I will get to her). Basically she can't say no, she failed to create boundaries all her life, did anything that anyone would ask her, including my mother, which learned that she could get anything she wanted from my grandmother if she yelled enough.
4- Now the real problem, my mother. Drugs addiction(cocaine, weed, cigars and alcohol, as far as I know), anger problems that became way worse, inability to take responsibility for anything, blames everyone for everything, highly defensive, offensive, manipulative, untrustworthy, shitty job, claims to also have bipolar disorder, also involved with drug dealers and on and on.
So, basically, my mother ruined her life and tries to blame everyone (except her) for it. My grandmother gave everything that she ever asked and wasn't never enough. My mother became more violent by the day to the point that she moved with my grandmother (against her will), and abused her all the time to get what she wanted, until she beated my grandmother a few times (which finally made my grandmother listen to me and gtfo of there to a place that she rented). Later we find out that my mother sold a house that my grandmother owned (and to my mother to live with her two children, my younger brothers), she falsified documents, took the money and spent in drugs, probably (nobody saw the money). She blames my grandmother for not giving anything for her (mostly love) and give everything to my aunt (the one with mental disorders and several addictions), she also said that she was abandoned by my grandmother when she left the house(fearful for her life). My mother threatened to kill all of us several times.
So, I had to force my grandmother to press charges(which obviously made my mother angrier) because she didn't wanted to look bad, refused to do anything that makes my mother dislike her. She basically wanted that I took the blame for everything in her place and stated this in various ways in several times. Every time I tried to help, I was blamed, accused of fuck up the situation even though my grandmother frequently asked me to take charge of the situation (she said that only a MAN could handle this). I am fucking sick of trying to help an impossible situation that no one is willing to cooperate and being blamed for every single time. I am trying to take my mother out of the house (my grandmother's house) in order to sold before my mother do something but this is extremely difficult here in Brazil, it takes no less than 2 years in court to do that. My grandmother obviously doesn't want to do or take responsibility for anything(including going to court or pressing charges, or anything that makes my mother deal with consequences) while wanting me to handle everything which is extremely overwhelming since all I heard is blaming and accusations and not one single drop of appreciation for trying to handle and impossible situation that was already fucked up even before I was born.
I made as short as possible, I don't know anyone better than you guys to talk to, my fathers and grandfather basically wants me to gtfo of this situation and "save myself", never offered any real help.
The thing is, I cannot let my grandmother in this situation, she is the most important person in my life, she did (and still does) everything for me, she suffered waaay to much all her life (although you can make the argument that she contributed a lot to the situation due to her escape tendencies).
What would you do? Should I take the responsibility for everything and ignore the blaming attempts from others?
