The warren jeffs / flds story is an old one, and it's spent its month on the front page of /feminisms, /reddit.com, /feminism, and here. It's not ignored because of content; it's being passed over largely because it's an old, horrible, tragic story.

also, the implications against Jeffs (if true) are that he built a cult around religiously justifying sexual abuse. While this woman's actions were also horrible, they they don't also include religious doctrines justifying sexual abuse, and don't seem to include more than one direct victim.

settle down. I'm all for the equal rights of men and women and equal justice for sexual assaulters of both sexes, but this woman gave his kid a handjob. Warran Jeffs mind-controlled all of these people and took his pedophilic pickings among his herd of followers. Now, if a male youth pastor got five years and this female pastor got six months, that would be a different story. But this is not a double standard, this is comparing an old school bi-wing to a fighter jet.
