There is much misinformation in popular religion and culture as to the true nature of legal marriage. For the last century or so marriage has had one overriding and express purpose - to ensure the welfare of women. To this end, our state governments have come up with countless number of ways to meet this objective, all to the detriment of men.

Wives have been described by many husbands over the last century as the "ball-and-chain". This reference to slavery is thought to be outrageous and ubelievable to most I suppose, but, when you really consider the legal and financial ramifications of "marriage", the phrase IS based in reality.

I've exclaimed this many times in this subreddit (and will continue to do so) to the disbelief of many. The following book excerpt will give anyone who cares a glimpse or introduction into the creation of marriage as we know it today. It recalls the time of a century ago before our modern marriage (and divorce) laws. I urge all men to do their own due diligence regarding this topic (as I have) so you can understand the great legal and financial ramifications of "tying the noose", I mean "knot" (Hmmm.....).
