To be fair, this is a paradoxical outcome. I think that most people would have issues understanding this right away. If you look further up that page, you would see that there were two treatments for kidney stones, one that works 83% of the time, and one that works 78% of the time. Going just from that data, it would be reasonable to conclude that the one that worked 83% of the time is better, however that is clearly not the case.

I don't think the problem is that feminists don't understand statistics. I think the problem is that the general public doesn't.

This isn't a misunderstanding of statistics, they didnt (to my knowledge) claim that it was false aftewards. This is what happens simply after looking at raw data and further analysis. The overwhelming majority of people feminist or not would make the same mistake. On top of that its a PARADOX meaning that normally even after going through and analyzing everything the feminists would have been right.

And this does not even take in consideration, that, maybe, the females could be less qualified.

The research paper by Bickel, et al.[14] concluded that women tended to apply to competitive departments with low rates of admission even among qualified applicants (such as in the English Department), whereas men tended to apply to less-competitive departments with high rates of admission among the qualified applicants (such as in engineering and chemistry).

Also interesting that the Mickey Mouse studies are competitive (everyone wants to get in) while the serious fields (Engineering) that require real brains and effort, and that are useful, are NOT competitive (not enough candidates want to do real work).
