We are wired to eat, sleep, breath and have sex.

Breathe, yes. Sleep, yes. Those are automatic actions that don't require conscious effort.

Eating and sex, absolutely not -- they require conscious effort and thought. If your parents don't feed you, if you don't ultimately learn what food is, you will die. There is no automatic knowledge of food. The same goes for sex, you don't know what sex is or how to have it if you don't learn it. You have to choose to eat and choose to have sex.

I don't have the argument backwards, no -- volitional action stems from ideas. How could choosing to marry someone wealthy and powerful be something ingrained on the automatic level like breathing?

That is a ridiculous assertion, and it does indeed invalidate responsibility: "men are hard-wired to rape" is a false argument that pseudo-feminists always advance, but if that were true, then rape couldn't possibly be bad -- because it's in our nature and we can't help it. It'd be the same as being retarded: no one chose it, so you can't blame the person for it.

Don't use that tactic or you're just as bad as they are.
