I've finally been served, it's mostly what I expected. She has asked the state to assess my ability to pay so that they can garnish my wages. The trouble is that the AG doesn't know how to calculate my obligation as she had it written in our modification last November, so I've been paying the increase directly to the AG (rather than them taking it out of my check) and now they show me being a couple of grand overpaid on my support.

She's afraid that I'm going to try to stop paying early in a couple of years, but I'm just trying to do the right thing.

Anyway... why is that the state is asking the court to order me to pay for the costs of this proceeding? Is that something I can fight?

Sorry to keep asking for legal advise, but after my last lawyer blew through $3,000 in about 2 weeks without accomplishing much, I just can't afford a lawyer without taking a new debt. I'm really hoping this is something that I can get through relatively painlessly, but that "order to pay reasonable attorney fees and all other costs of this proceeding" bit scares me.

Edit: No, I didn't confront the constable that had made the threat. I haven't found anything that feels like a "safe" way to complain about a cop without high risk of retribution.
