downgrading ltr to a plate

I reckon the two blokes who have responded have never had an LTR. How can you just quietly downgrade someone you are in a relationship to a plate through actions? She is your girlfriend, not a stray cat.

OP, sit her down and tell her that you are no longer in a position to be in a relationship with anyone at the moment, or something to that effect. She needs to know that all the trimmings of an LTR are no longer on the table. If you don't have this clear conversation, you are going to have a lot of maintenance on your hands from a very confused girl.

Then you should begin to implement the change with actions and behaviours. You can tell her that you enjoy her company and would like to see her occasionally but keep it sparse (once a week) and no texting/calling to talk about anything but meeting up, as you would any other plate.

Yeah. And if you really are the best option she'll stick around.
She won't go without a fight though, so you may not talk for a little while, but she'll find her way back

It's totally doable but you have to live it not just say it.
