It's frustrating that many people don't understand the way "offensive" jokes function in society.

An offensive joke can serve one of two function: it can reinforce a narrative, or it can be used to reinforce the negative of that narrative. These two functions can flow from exactly the same joke - it just depends on context.

When I tell a pedophilia joke, or a rape joke, or a racist joke, or homophobic joke, or any number of other "offensive" jokes amongst my friends, I am conscious of two things. First, none of my friends believe that pedophilia or rape or racism or homophobia are okay. Second, all of my friends know that I don't believe that pedophilia or rape or racism or homophobia are okay.

So why do we (we here being myself and my group of friends) tell offensive jokes?

We tell them ironically; that is, we tell them to perpetuate the idea that we disapprove of racism, homophobia, rape, and pedophilia, and further that people who unironically perpetuate those narratives are to be shunned.

A new survey of college students revealed the 6 percent of respondents admitted to either raping or attempting to rape someone.

Funny how those statistics get changed from "either raping or attempting to rape someone" into "admit to raping someone".

Why are you posting to crazy? MacEwan is a bitter and hateful female who has nothing but loathing and vitriol for anything with a penis. There is nothing of value that can be learned or gleaned from that site other than the fact that there are females that genuinely hate men and only wish to see the gender further marginalized or worse.
