They often don't have hobbies because they don't have to have them. Someone else has always directed things along for them.

If you recoil at the suggestion that a woman should have to do these things to attract/keep a man, then understand that men have always had to adhere to these types of rules and standards to attract and keep women. Neither party should get off easy when it comes to this.

So once you associate yourself with someone I do agree with the overall sentiment, for the most part, but I don't consider posting a webcomic from someone 'associating' with them. That's a very tenuous link, imo. Obviously others do, and feel the need to proactively distance themselves, and that's fine. Just disappointing that we're at a point where this needs to be done or people feel it needs to be done.
/r/MensRights13/07/18 10:16 PM

Not really. I'm saying I personally condemn any distasteful stuff this guy has done, but don't feel the need to proclaim it to everyone before I post something that's completely unrelated as some sort of proactive shield against criticism or something. Seems like it wastes time and sets the precedent that we have to do this "just in case" for more and more people over time.

"This subreddit does not support the views of the comic artist on all things." Just make sure to post that sticky everywhere just to be safe. Edit: Tell you what. I fully condemn any of this comic artists views that are obviously racist or promote neo nazism. But it's sad that posting a comic you like about circumcision being bad means you have to proactively state that you don't like their other comics or views or that posting a comic about circumcision means that you implicitly support their o…

I think that a lot of them are going to be shocked to learn that they will lose WAY more advantages than they gain in the way of abolished disadvantages This is the thing no one thinks of or talks about. The recent 'equal rights' movement has promoted women losing all their classical disadvantages for being women but almost never talks about the advantages being lost as well. Related issues include "Let's get more women into high-paying and comfortable tech jobs!" but none of the equivalent "Let…

I've watched the show. It features serial killers and murderers specifically. The people who are not killers act just fine and normal (for the most part). I don't really see why this show needs to be politicized in this way.

People seem to assume that posting this or pointing it out is interpreted as it being the BIGGEST ISSUE OF THE DAY or some shit, which it absolutely isn't. But I do think it's worthy of at least pointing out to have the discussion. Just because someone points something out and says "hey this kinda sucks", other people jump in like "Men are getting shafted in divorce courts every day and you're posting pictures of restrooms LOLOL" Um...there's room for both discussions.

Feminism always says it's about SOCIAL equality for women, not just legal equality. I feel this is absolutely a social issue for men. Now, does that mean this is something that society needs to change? Probably not. But it's important to note that it exists. And that there is a very real difference between success in the dating world for men and women. Ignoring the differences that the genders face here is part of why there's so much animosity in gender relations.

I have a feeling you may be working with a definition of oppression that doesn't really match mine. So I'd say that no, rich black people are not being oppressed by the white man. In fact, I'd say the vast majority of people (in the US) at least are not being oppressed. And those that are being oppressed, the commonality they share is probably going to be their low economic standing.
/r/MensRights14/10/16 07:04 PM

"They had been giving priority to women and children, who received earlier dates rather than being forced to spend weeks in the overcrowded shelters. Men, no matter if they were traveling with their partners and children, usually had to wait for later appointments." More evidence about how the patriarchy benefits men at the expense of women.

This is what happens when you don't expect consequences for your actions. It's a generalization, but I don't feel that women and girls get the same amount of that concept ingrained in them that men and boys do.
/r/MensRights28/09/16 05:56 PM

I think that's exactly right. GG: "Hey, this woman is at the center of a controversy regarding journalist ethics. You should clean up your act" Journalists:"Why do you hate women?"

Thank you for understanding the purpose of this post and why I'm trying to call it out. If prison time based on the race of the person is a social issue, then prison time based on the sex of the person is a social issue as well. How could it not be? Even if it were true that men go to prison because the XY chromosome is simply more prone to breaking the law than the XX chromosome, admitting that means admitting that men and women are behaviorally very different at the heart of their being and th…

I thought this subreddit was about equal treatment of the sexes; not equal outcome What is the deal with everyone jumping to these crazy conclusions? Suggesting people want women locked up as much as men? It came out of absolutely nowhere and I have no idea why. This post has zero to do with wanting women locked up as much as men for committing less crime. Out of all the points that I tried to address by posting this, the fact that this irrelevant point is the one that gets chosen is really mind…

Are we really saying that we want to see women locked up men commit more crimes than women. Are you seriously saying that they don't? You're putting thoughts and words into people's mouths way too much with your comments. It's highly annoying. Regardless of that, whether or not men commit more crimes or not isn't the point of this at all. The point was to show that the race of the person incarcerated appears to be an important talking about regarding inequality in our society. Why is the sex of …
/r/MensRights26/07/15 09:01 PM

Not disputing that claim at all, but if the sex didn't matter, it shouldn't have been part of the infographic. Edit: Additionally: If, as some people will state, it's simply men committing more crimes because of the fact that they are 'men'. Then why is that such an invalid argument when it comes to women not pursuing STEM careers? Why is it in men's nature to commit more crime, but it's a social problem when it comes to women not pursuing lucrative degrees and careers?

Absolutely true. It's in all media, really. I was playing GTA V and came across the torture scene. While there are many people writing about the fact that they were 'disturbed' by it, could you even begin to imagine if the character was female instead of male? Gratuitous violence is only acceptable towards males, in 99.9% of the time. The next time you see something violent or painful happen to a man, briefly imagine it happening to a woman instead, and think about whether or not it would ever c…

Question, what do you think MR would be more in favor of on the scale. Each person's philosophy is different. Personally I just want that fact to be acknowledged and understood by the public at large. There's far too much "Here are the ways women have it tough" with very very little of the dialogue about the ways men face challenges.

Their thought process is: "Since men are physically stronger, any bad that women do is because of pressure from the men, which they can never rise up against" Of course any good that women do is because women are just more innately good than men are.

They are allowed to get away with it much more. Men are 'watched' much more closely and if a guy is crazy it's much more likely he's going to end up in jail or similar for it before a woman would.

I'm pretty sure Peter has gotten raped multiple times by multiple characters, or at least it's implied or suggested. However, by and large, I say Family Guy tends to include both men and women when it comes to jokes such as that more than other shows. So I respect that.

Zoe Quinn should be getting blown the fuck out by feminists for compromising feminist values for personal gain, they should be on her case for using feminism and false flag harassment to enrich herself and raise her profile. They should be using their outrage machine to out her as a fraud, a liar and a damaging factor to women in the industry. The sisterhood is too strong for that to happen.

The thing I don't understand about the draft is: Even if women didn't have to register because they were considered unfit for combat, or even unfit for general military duty, why didn't they have to register for war-supporting civilian work? Wouldn't it be important during war-time to have people working in manufacturing, or have them recruited to be nurses or care-givers? There are probably tons of jobs that civilians could do to assist in the war effort that have nothing to do with the militar…

Most people who are non-violently raped do not further humiliate themselves by making a public issue of their vulnerability. (Nor are many who are physically traumatized.) The crime reports are skewered in this regard, and I would tend to take the CDC's epidemiologically-compiled statistics (with the above-mentioned semantic proviso) as the more accurate representation of unwanted sexual activity in American society. Agreed. However, considering some of the example questions quoted in the phone …

This is the part that really gets me. If getting women into high-paying, traditionally male-dominated jobs is such a big priority, shouldn't it be an equal priority to get men into more domestic support positions? If women having to stay home and take care of the house and children is restrictive, then we need to start giving men an easier option to get into these traditionally 'women only' duties. Where is the social push for this to happen? You can't effectively have one without the other.

The catch-phrase is more important to them than inclusiveness. It could have very very easily been called Amazon Parent, but it doesn't have a cutesy ring to it, I guess. Charging insurance premiums differently based on sex is either okay, or it isn't. All I'm looking for is some consistency. But per usual, when it's men and boys getting the shaft, we're just supposed to 'suck it up'. When it's women and girls getting the shaft, it's a travesty that needs to be solved.

I don't have a problem with it. That's exactly why I said "SOUNDS GREAT, OBAMA". That was not actually sarcasm. The reason 'violence against men' isn't a thing, is because most of society doesn't consider men to be a group worthy or deserving of sympathy, unlike women. Or, at the very least, compared to women they aren't deserving any sympathy. This is pretty much the underlying cause for most MRA issues. It has nothing to do with statistics, logic, or facts. It only has to do with feels.

Rape is often treated by feminists as worse than murder. What other reason could that be other than because they wish to extend the concept of a woman's sexual purity being sacred?

claiming men with big muscles in that game are a "male power fantasy" Who are they to make that claim? You could just as easily claim that a skimpily-dressed woman is a "female power fantasy" because enhanced sex appeal grants a lot of power in our society. If a dude with big muscles and a bare chest is something that guy's want, then why do they want it? What's the primary reason a guy would want an incredibly muscular body? (Hint: Attracting women). It's the same fucking shit.

Men, as a group, no longer get any sort of 'pats on the back' or recognition that there are tasks that they overwhelmingly undertake (compared with women) that put themselves in harm's way for others. Making the statement that masculinity is something that is good rarely happens these days. Instead, it's much more often demonized or looked at critically. demonizing anyone for embodying these traits is wrong It happens.

There's a colossal difference between helping another person and helping another person because of their gender. what are women obligated to do for men in this modern age? 'Severity' is subjective. I doubt you'll find citations for it. What kind of citation would you be looking for, exactly? There's a Korean show called "Love in Asia" that completely focuses on men from Korea marrying women from another country. Likely for this very reason.

I've been to Korea a bunch of times. The 'roles' assigned to men and women are much more obvious there than they are in the U.S. It's kind of a more exaggerated mirror of gender relations than the western world is used to. Of course, most people in the west will point to Korea and Japan as 'horrible' for women, when it would be dishonest to say that without saying it is also horrible for men.

I've been to Korea 6 times, and I'm married to a Korean woman. So I've been around the culture a fair amount. As for politics, only 18% of representatives in Congress are women. I would hardly call that "more political representation than men" I believe he meant that women's issues get more political time than mens' issues. And easily explainable, if my theory is correct. When you aren't higher-income you MUST work. There's no time or money to play around in college, so guys tend to go straight to work. Public perception Well there's our problem right there. I would find it hard for there to be any public perception that would actually paint men, as a group, as victims in any case.

Of course, women like Ms. Chun could change their minds if their parenthood and other demands on their time enter the picture. Women may say they want to be a kick-ass parent and have a kick-ass career as their life goal but when the time actually comes, will having both be a reality?

Out of this whole 'mess' you are referring to, if I could choose one qualm to focus on, it's that the public discourse on gender relations has many more socially-accepted voices backing the viewpoint of women than are backing the viewpoint of men. I feel this is the primary reason why we're having the problems we are having.

Since it's something that doesn't seem to be easily measurable to me, do you have any links you can provide that might discuss how men and women react differently to divorce? The most highly-paid people who majored in womens' studies are those that give 'talks' about how we're nowhere near equality for women. They often get compensated quite nicely.

We just spent the last 4 decades working towards a world where women didn't have to feel pigeonholed into living one type of life; to have the freedom to choose their own path. But guys? Don't you dare think you have the same type of freedom. Get the fuck back to work and propose to a woman. Or you don't deserve to be called a man.

"The definition of rape used by the F.B.I. — “the carnal knowledge of a female, forcibly and against her will” — was written more than 80 years ago. The yearly report on violent crime, which uses data provided voluntarily by the nation’s 18,000 law enforcement agencies, is widely cited as an indicator of national crime trends. But that definition, critics say, does not take into account sexual-assault cases...where the victims were...under the influence of alcohol." So I am not clear on what the…

It's 'casually thrown around' by mostly women because the accusation of rape is an incredibly large power in a woman's hands, and an incredible weakness for any man. In a perfect world, the desires of both mother and father would be discussed between each other, and the choice of abortion should be made jointly. But no woman should be forced to carry a child that she doesn't want. That means while getting permission to abort from the father-to-be sounds like a good idea on paper, realistically, it is her body and her choice whether or not to abort regardless of his thoughts.

Where, exactly, is the problem with the situation she is describing? He sounds like kind of a douchebag based on what she has described so far. She simply asked for advice about what to do. She even said she didn't want to compromise is happiness in his life if she could help it. Listen. I'm not terribly thrilled with the amount of reproductive choice men have in the world today, but given the situation as described, I'm having trouble finding any fault with her in any of this.
/r/MensRights22/09/11 06:38 PM

A man deciding he doesn't want to be involved in a child's life has no effect on the ability of the mother to make that same choice. The entire point is that both parents should have a choice in the matter. One parent should not have the ability to deny the other their choice of involvement.

Gender roles were appropriate for most of human history. Because of technological advances, we are able to see a future that doesn't necessarily require them. I don't really get the point they are trying to make. Is the message trying to insinuate that a stranger having sex with someone by gunpoint is likely to be consensual? You've hit the nail on the head. Regardless of whatever numbers people come up with, since the definition of 'sexual assault' is so nebulous, any number will be suspect. What tends to happen, unfortunately, is that even if 'sexual assault' is defined to include something like an unwanted touch while clothed, when people hear the term in statistics, they'll immediately think of something significantly worse.

In the jewelry store ad, the woman is looking very annoyed with her arms crossed at the man. It's easy to infer that he made a mistake, and she hit him. In your linked ad, she has a black eye, but I'm not sure I understand why it is inferred that he was the one who hit her. It's certainly not nearly the same type of story. 'Mothers and children' are a sympathy-generating class of people. Men are not. So whatever money, donations, support, whatever they are looking for is going to be more effective if you tug at the heartstrings. I think the vast majority of women who consider themselves feminists aren't actually trying to keep men down. But I do think the vocal feminists, the one's lobbying and getting laws changed, are feeding the rest of them the kool-aid. They paint the picture of constant oppression of women (by men), so while the average Joe/Jane thinks of themselves as a feminist, they think they're fighting the good fight, when they aren't actually seeing reality.

Most women don't want a guy to behave that way. They want to be romanced. Asking for consent in that fashion is generally a fast ticket to "Goodbye". However, setting that behavior as a legal necessity is a perfect fallback position that gives women (more) power in the mating game. If a guy makes non-verbal, romantic pushes towards sexual activity, and the woman dislikes it immediately or regrets it later, then he is a criminal for not getting explicit consent. If he clearly asks for consent at …

It just means those people who are robbers are more likely going to target your house than someone who locked their doors. So someone who gets plastered, acts flirty, and passes out in a room…

You can't use logic with these people. You make a perfectly good point and you will not get a reasonable answer. Their argument is that you shouldn't have had sex if you weren't willing to deal with the consequences. But again, in their world this only applies to men having sex. Women having sex don't have to deal with the consequences. They just get all of the choices.

Guys want to be the powerful male characters. Guys want to be with sexy female characters. It's catering to male players. If a guy was going to buy a game, and all other items being the same, most guys would pick the one that caters to these desires. And unfortunately it's hard to have a game that appeals in this way to males and appeals to female desires at the same time. So what do they do? They make the choice that makes the most business sense by catering to their largest audience.

it was long considered a fate worse than death Do you know why? Because the value of a woman was her purity. This concept was faithfully followed for millennia. If a woman's purity was in question, she was nearly dead to society. So it was a very precious thing to lose. But here we are today. That concept is mostly out-dated, and it is a concept that feminists especially tend to fight against quite a bit. The female 'purity' concept, according to them, is very outdated and irrelevant. Which make…

We continually hear how men have always controlled their women through marriage and the institutions in society. But the truth is marriage equalized male power (the power to create wealth) and female power (the power of sexual attraction). It was a mutually beneficial and equal contract. The issue with the application of this thought process is that it has different levels of public acceptance depending on the sex of the person it is trying to excuse. Women do bad things because there is something wrong with them. Men do bad things because they are evil.

To be honest, you might be wasting your time. Rape, as a crime, is far too muddy to be tightly classified or understood well. Ask the courts, ask a lawyer, ask a guy, as a woman, and you will get different answers. Because the very heart of the crime itself is so jumbled in this way, you end up arguing with someone's emotions rather than facts. And you know what? If you're choosing in multiple choice between supporting her and believing her and asking her more questions about the night, it seems pretty obvious which is the right answer. The biggest problem I have with this phrase has to do with the ultimate meaning of it. "Man up", when distilled and simplified down to a base message means: "You have a responsibility to act a certain way because of your sex. Start fulfilling that responsibility." If you stop for a moment and look back in time you will see that up until recently, men and women alike had responsibilities that were mostly socially defined. gender is inborn and is not a construct Some of it is social, but certainly not all of it as many would state. There are inherent biological differences between men and women that affect their behavior. Social norms also separate certain behaviors by gender. The problem comes when many feminists hold fast to the theory that males and females act the way they do PURELY because of social constructs. That is a load of crap.

Women naturally live longer I would argue that this is not natural. we have proof that men are higher risk for early accidents And how is that proof gotten? Because of statistics. You look at all the folks who marked the box 'male' and all the folks who marked the box 'female' and compare them against each other. You can very well do the same with race. Just like they do with occupation, zip code, age, etc. The point is, why look at statistics based on sex without also looking at race?

The only consideration given to men as a group is when they are being referenced in a negative manner. Apologies for the overt cynicism but I can't help it.

Nearly every practicing example of feminism that I come across is built upon the idea that women, as a group, are more disadvantaged in life than men, and feminism is the means to remedy this. Beyond my complete disagreement with this philosophy, I notice a nearly tangible irony within feminism. For being such a disadvantaged group, women certainly tend to garner much more sympathy toward their concerns than men do toward theirs.

How did this become a valid blog post? What is this guy's point exactly? The most interesting part comes in the below comments.

They should at least get community service or something. Yes, it's much much better than getting an innocent person locked up, but it still stokes the fire of rape hysteria which harms mostly men.

I wonder if any of these fathers could sue for custody and then sue the rapists for child support. I'm sure it could happen. However it would make much bigger news, I would wager, than what is going on here. The outrage would be incomparable. Edit: Sorry. I thought this was asking if a male rapist could sue his female victim for custody/support of the child, if born.

You can discuss and disparage the social inequality of this action without giving a shred of sympathy to the guy. They are mutually exclusive.

GREAT MARKETING! I'm going to follow this example but switch the text with stuff like: "When he said 'please don't kill me' I didn't" - Men can stop crime "When I wanted her jewelry but she clung to it fiercely I decided to stop" - Men can stop crime "When I wanted that bottle of Jack but didn't have the money, I left it on the shelf" - Men can stop crime Totally awesome. Or you know switch it up with 'blacks' instead of men if you want it to make 'more sense'

If we were to apply that logic to other facets of life, women wouldn't be voting, among other things.

I would say that you should sit down and logically explain why you are hesitating, and cite real life examples that highlight why you feel this way. Items such as divorce rate, child custody (assuming you have children), how the legal system favors women in divorce, etc. Ask her to look at the benefits of marriage from all standpoints and see if an alternative to legal marriage would be acceptable, and explain why you think this makes more sense. Sit down with her, explain your reasoning, and I'…

She looked me dead in the face and said, "Never ask." Modern sexual relations are a game, and the women are holding all the cards. Some may claim that this woman's attitude is an anomaly, and that 'asking' for consent is appreciated by most. I challenge this. There will never be a majority of women who follow the same rules when it comes to this. Why? They can't. If they did, there would be no game. If there is no game then they can't 'cheat' at it. It's all about control. Control over sexual re…

Women wanted men who would provide resources, and men wanted fer tile women who would bear and raise their chil dren. Women date up; men date beauty. Forty years of fem i nism can not change these sub con scious attitudes. Ask most feminists and they will STAUNCHLY disagree with this.

Leaving a decision about whether you get arrested for rape or not into a single person's hands is stupid no matter what.

Do you know how they say rape is not about sex, it's about control? It's actually about both. Control of a woman by a man to exert his power over her. (Male on female rape) Do you know what all other sexual activity is? It's control a woman has over a man to show her power. There's an ungodly amount of power today's modern woman has in sex.

Health insurance premiums are costlier for women, I believe. Or at least they used to be.

All well and good for most 'risk' categories. (Income, resident location, miles driven, occupation, driving history, etc). But sex, race, religion, are supposed to be protected and shouldn't be used as risk evaluators.

Incredible article. What, after all, is the average guy to conclude when, after listening to a female acquaintance’s oft-heard lamentation that “all she wants is some one who is nice and will treat her well”, she promptly lifts her skirt for the first drunk, unemployed bad boy she runs across within hours of their first meeting. Not only is her behavior creating a negative disincentive for courtly pursuit and a positive incentive for ruthless predation, it’s also teaching him that there is no …

Juliane Kokott, Advocate General at the European Court of Justice (ECJ), believes the widely-held practice of setting different rates for men and women based on their sex violates EU anti-discrimination laws. What??? If it only affects men it can't be discrimination! "The decision to afford cheaper car insurance to women is not based on discriminating factors but on solid statistics and fact. Women have fewer accidents than men and claim less than men. Yes it's so awesome charging people more ba…

I've asked this question a million times and no one can give me a decent answer. And no, my question isn't "Why do men pay more for insurance", it's "Why isn't it discrimination to charge men more" but it's discrimination if you attempt to charge any other class of people more? If men are statistically costlier it's a-okay to charge them more, but if another group is statistically costlier, don't charge them more or it's discrimination!

I have always felt as though sex is something that only I truly want, and that anytime I get it, I'm being done a favor to some degree. It doesn't help that it has been somewhat held over my head as something my partner did for my benefit rather than for mutual benefit. So to answer your question, yes. I stifle my sexuality almost completely because I do not feel free to express it, even with my most intimate partner, but especially anywhere else.

Going back to this specific situation, did she make it crystal clear that she was only having sex with him because she thought he was single? Or is it something she considered internally only? The former would be fraud, the latter would not, in my opinion.

Feminism as a concept only exists under the assumption that in the large arena of sexual equality, women are behind men. The colloquial definition of feminism is 'equality of the sexes'. Originally, this was voting rights, employment rights, etc. Big, solid, tangible areas where women were just not allowed to be on peer with men. Well, most of that has been 'solved'. Laws have been enacted, society has changed drastically. But feminism is still around. In fact, I dare say it's as popular or more…

there should be a standard by which being lying scum and fraudulently misrepresenting oneself can be considered rape Do you know how vehemently opposed I am to piling on more scenarios that can legally be called 'rape'? Do you know why I am opposed? Because as the legal definition of rape grows larger, the colloquial definition stays roughly the same. This is not to say that debate about the man's actions in this situation being a crime shouldn't exist. I think there's a good case for discussion…
