Honestly kloo I don't get your comment. There's no commitment? And of all the things I have to say about marriage, "worthless" isn't a word I would use.

Marriage is NOT just "a piece of paper". It's a contract with the state to provide welfare mostly to women (although that is changing) paid by mostly manslaves. There is a HUGE commitment in marriage for people who make a living, again mostly men. Depending on the longevity of the marriage your "commitment" could be enslavement to an adult for the rest of your life. Of course, if you don't work you have no commitments or responsibilities at all in marriage - you just collect your welfare checks. So if you're a moocher marriage is very "worthwhile" and far from worthless.

As to forcing two people to stay together, even if they don't want to (which I think is what you're getting at - the "glory days" of forced bondage marriage before the 1970s), through legal and financial barriers like the idea of consent for divorce, several words come to mind - slavery, archaic, inhumane, barbaric (I could go on but I think the point has been made). Human beings SHOULD be able to "get out" of a marriage at any time, for free that is (no post-marital welfare). It's called FREEDOM!!!!!

Typical western female solipsism..... her boyfriend is doing the right thing by not getting married. Specially with this awesome specimen of "womyn".

It is in men's best interest to avoid marriage, cohabitation and kids with many (if not most) western women.
