Although I agree that divorce screws over the guy (and is inherently female biased), that video was a steaming pile of crap.

There were some interesting references to media and the phenomena of men/husbands/boyfriends as wallets on legs. However, the assertion that women spend more than men requires some evidence. I've read that women spend more frequently than men, but men have a higher average spend (sorry, but don't have a reference on hand). Also, the notion that all women are vapid spendthrifts is sexist and requires qualification if you present it like a fact.

Finally, the assertion that the government want men's wealth to transfer to women to stimulate the economy (thus why law is anti-man) is quite an infantile conspiracy theory; true tin-foil-hat material.

That video was a train-wreck.

We do have a historical record as to why marriage/divorce/custody is so biased towards women - the real answer is women's welfare.

I urge all to check out the book "Wives without husbands: marriage, desertion, & welfare in New York, 1900-1935". Remember that the period in question here was much different than modern America, most notably with regard to the education and employability of women.

Here are the chapters: 1. They need not become a burden to the state 2. The creation of an antidesertion system in New York 3. Ambivalent breadwinners and the public purse Etc. (you get the idea)

The Introduction is nothing short of chilling for anyone who believes in freedom and limited governmental interference in our lives.

The movement afoot a hundred years ago was to basically enslave men to their wives for the welfare of women and to save money for the state. This system still exists and is stronger than ever despite the opportunities available for women today.
