I would not donate sperm these days, in any western country. Even if donor anonymity exists today, what guarantee do you have that it will be enforced tomorrow? In the current legal and social climate: not much!

Part of the problem might be the change to the law permitting single women and lesbians to access IVF. If a man donates sperm, he might well be creating a fatherless family. Yes, some men might be comfortable with this, but there must be plenty of family men aware of their own role in the family, who would hesitate to donate sperm and deprive a child of a father.
