I was reading this thread earlier, and I grew curious: What if we gave women exactly what they asked for? If male attention angered them, what would its complete absence do? So we actually tried this: While on a public train, a group of friends and I turned away and pretended that a woman wasn't there.

We were all talking about this thread earlier, and had agreed to try this experiment. We stood in a loose group of five, just talking shop, and waited for a female of reproductive age to get on the train near us. When one did, we quietly turned to face the other way, still talking, not changing expression or behavior in any other way. after two stops , I glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Her body language practically radiated hurt anger, confusion, and insecurity. The total unspoken effect was:

"but I'm a woman!! Why aren't you paying attention to me?"

Let me assure you that NONE of us were the kind of man she would want attention from under normal circumstances. I sincerely doubt she would have spoken to any of us had we tried to strike up a conversation.

My end conclusion is that women are not as used to being ignored as men are. In fact, they seem to be MADE OF attention from men. If they don't get it, they feel diminished and less happy.

So don't take the "I don't want men to look at me" squawking too seriously. The opposite situation is far more cruel to them.

EDIT Looking at the smoking ruins of this thread, I can only conclude that I touched a SERIOUS nerve with the 2X crowd. Part of me is genuinely sad, but another part of me is quietly gleeful - I know a tender spot: Their social status.....

EDIT 2: Guys, you for got a spot - one post of mine is still above zero! Can you come back and fix it?

EDIT 3: Thanks!!
