The government is helpless to stop this. The government has its hands tied by legal formalities and bureaucracy. This is a social problem that needs social solutions. One of Americas biggest issues, and the precipitator of many of its other issues, is the peoples tendency to run to the government for solutions to every problem. The government, local, state or federal, and fix the institution of marriage, because to try and fix it in any way shape or form would be political suicide. Because in order to fix marriage you have to rebuff about half of the feminist dogma which governs the intimate heterosexual relationship in America. The government can't just post ads on the bus that say "Shit, my bad! You actually do need a man."

Any institution that goes out of its way to publish these findings will be accused of trying to scare women back into the kitchen or will be ignoring the fact that there are so many single mothers out there because modern women are vigorously encouraged to undermine and devalue the men in their life with Grrrl Pwar! But they can ignore that outcome without ramifications.

They can encourage marriage all they want but as long as it remains a proposition of sacrifice and responsibility with no guarantee of anything, not so much as sex or fresh linens, or fidelity, or even equality, neither men nor women will be rushing to the altar. Social convention and peer pressure is the only thing keeping marriage around as an institution today and only social convention and peer pressure can encourage people not to throw in the towel.

Life can be a friggin' mess. I am thankful for having been born in a time when I didn't have to worry about who was stumbling out of my mother's bedroom in the morning. If this is the best we can do today, we no longer have a viable culture.

I don't know where I read the article (I will try to find it and post it) but statistically having an unrelated male (stepfather, boyfriend etc. ) in the home really heightens the chances of abuse. Their is even some statistics on adoptions.

Not saying that men can't love and cherish non-related children, my father took very good care of my half sister. Just that statistically it is probably something to avoid if possible.
