The quote is somewhat out of context. Adults and competitive leagues have lower priority, according to policy, than recreational kids hockey. But the girls have been excluded in favor of the men's and competitive leagues, which is what they are complaining about, validly.

What a load of crap. I love this line:

"Adult men and the Greater Toronto Hockey League ... have to take a back seat to girls, that's our (equity) policy."

How the heck is it equality if one gender is being forced to take a backseat to the other?? Equality would be giving them both the SAME priority and the SAME amount of ice time, not giving more to females and less to males. That's not very equal. Boys and men shouldn't be "punished" so that girls can have more ice time.
