In the skit, the man suspects that his wife is having an affair with a contractor working on their house. He comes home to ask her, and she immediately launches into a tirade, throwing plates and dishes at him, screaming at him.

Leno shows up to witness this spat between the couple. Mostly the husband is walking away from the woman, ducking the plates. Every once in a while he tosses an insult at her over his shoulder.

As the woman is upbraiding the man for not trusting her, Leno opens a closet door and finds the naked contractor standing inside. The wife then becomes contrite, asking for forgiveness from her husband, but not accepting responsibility. But soon she is screaming and throwing things again, and eventually the police are called.

Nobody gets arrested, except for Leno, for making a wisecrack to the police officer. ("Q: How many LA Policemen does it take to beat up a suspect? A: None. He fell!")

If the gender roles were reversed in that skit, it would immediately become the target of feminists. But because it's a woman throwing things, and not being arrested, it's funny.

I'm totally fine with this, really. I always have been fine with this kind of thing - it's just humor. Why would I ever take it personally? If we can't laugh at ourselves....etc etc.

Yep, I never thought anything of it, Until they came and took my kids away, accusing me of abuse, and then I thought, maybe there is something to this idea of gender discrimination.
