Hi Pn6,

I actually think you should re-read the article. Dani didn't have a brother close to her in age. She had two brothers who were born in the late 70s / early 80s (close to when the mother got married). The younger son (of the two) was slow and wasn't potty trained until he was 4.

When Dani was rescued, the two (already adult) sons were in the living room. From the lack of mention, it would appear that they were living fairly "normal" (at least integrated) lives.

By the way, the question remains: if the girl was abused, via neglect, why was the mother the only one tried for the crime? The mother lived with her boyfriend and two adult sons.

The three men should also be held responsible for allowing this to happen.

edit: added, if you're referring to the "brother who is one year older" (about halfway down in the article), that's referring to William, her adoptive brother. Sounds like his parents are fantastic people, and Dani is lucky to have him and them in her life now.
