So I've noticed that /r/amitheasshole has a very strong gender bias against men. Women who are genuinely abusive and controlling are routinely upvoted, and men with legitimate points are mocked and insulted.

So I decided to do a test. I saw this post on AITA. A woman asking her boyfriend to pay rent for the apartment she owns. If you look at the comments, you'll see she is mostly upvoted and supported- people think it is reasonable for her to charge rent to her boyfriend because he is living there for free.

So what did I do? I wanted to test my theory of the gender double standard. So I copy and pasted that post, but switched around the genders:

This is the link, which has been removed

So yeah, it was removed. Good thing I took a screenshot of what the post said...you'll see it's an exact copy/paste:

So if a guy charges his girlfriend rent, he is an asshole. But if a girlfriend charges her boyfriend rent, it's "fair and reasonable."

We live in a weird time where people are trying to make up for sexism, so as a result, men are being very unfairly penalized.
