My partner and I have been together for nearly six years, and I am very serious about us having a future together--however, he has an INCREDIBLY short temper that almost always leaves me on the receiving end of some hurtful actions and words. I do my best to be good to him, and understand his frustration, but it just isn't that simple sometimes. He is a perpetually negative man, and it's very hard to keep him happy. I feel like I am walking on eggshells trying not to displease him over the smallest slight. Don't get me wrong, I very much love him and still try my hardest--but we are both still so young, and I often find myself sad that I seem to be fruitlessly putting in effort for a relationship that seems to be going nowhere good. Maybe I am looking at this entire situation the wrong way, but I am just exhausted with hearing such hurtful things on a regular basis over smallest inconveniences. I'm sorry for my vague description of things, I am very much trying not to talk poorly of him, and do want things to work out in the long run, but I'm just incredibly hurt and saddened right now. I would love some advice from those older than ourselves, who have a more knowledgeable perspective on life. We are both 21.
