They treat you like a pervert being a male blood donor in the UK.

I use to give blood but stopped.

A few times I went this happened: "They said that they had to position men so that they did not look up female skirts when they were lieing on the beds!".

They also quizzed the men about whether you had slept with a prostitute, women were not asked the same questions at all.

It is not a nice experience being a male blood donor. Plus every single member of the team was female.

I won’t click on the link as I refuse to read anything on the BBC site however, it looks like this is a story about humans helping one another and while I know it’s not the point you’re making, it’s nice to see kindness and people helping others - regardless of their gender.

It would be OK but they had to try to shame men:

Only 41% of new blood donors in England last year were men.
The high level of iron present in male blood makes it especially helpful to patients who rely on regular life-saving transfusions.
Unlike men, women produce antibodies during pregnancy which makes their blood unviable for numerous specialist transfusions and blood-based products, such as complete blood transfusions in newborn babies.

Maybe it's because men are at work. What's next, required blood donations because men have less antibodies produced during pregnancy?

I kind of feel like your conclusion they are implying women are better is a bit of a stretch. They just state a fact, women produce extra antibodies so their blood donations aren't as useful. I could just be naive though.

Aside from that a small PSA. Please consider trying to donate blood if you haven't especially if you're type O. Guys have an easier time with our higher iron levels and larger bodies and it only takes a little over an hour to complete (most of the time is answering questions). Side effects are minimal as long as you drink enough water the day of and days after. I mention guys have an easier time, but I hope any female lurkers would consider it as well.

I know a lot of us work and are already juggling work, life, and family, but an hour of your time can literally save a life.

Not sure about today what the rules are in the US but I can donate plasma but not blood last time I tried to donate blood thanks to getting shipped to Iraq for a year
