Any tips for avoiding comparing yourself to other men?

There is a difference between internal validation and external validation. What you are experiencing is the need for external validation.

In the end, trying to be externally validated may consume you. There will always be someone richer, taller, younger, smarter, stronger, etc. than you.

Also, what you don't see is the debt they are carrying while trying to live that lifestyle. How they agonize over paying the bills and which one gets paid first. It's no different than comparing yourself to other people on Facebook. You're only seeing the highlight reel of their life.

Why do you care about impressing people you don't even know, and who judge your value solely by your apparent wealth?

I don't know about you, but anyone that judges me by my apparent wealth, I don't want to be around anyway.

Consider looking deeper into yourself on why you feel that need for external validation.

Edit: Comparing yourself to other people is just a story in your head. When you find yourself comparing, realize it is a story and try to think up an equally valid, but opposing story.

Example: "Boy that person has four Bentlys! They must be so happy!"
"Oh really? Just because they own four Bentlys, does that mean they are automatically happier than me? They might have leased the all and are now worrying about making the payments. Or, maybe his wife is a total bitch and has been nagging him and driving him into debt just to look wealthy. And now his cortisol level is through the roof and he is stressed out every day and is addicted to Oxy just to get through the day."

The only man you should compare yourself to is yourself yesterday. Are you better than that man? If the answer is yes, you're doing well.
