There are good assholes, and bad assholes. Good assholes actually stand up for themselves, aren't afraid to call out bullshit, and are likely to push your soft limits, if you need assistance freeing yourself.

Bad assholes don't give a shit who they hurt, as they steer their trainwreck into terrified onlookers. Though they claim to be the first type, they really represent a fail state... though some are at least self-aware enough to acquire enough money/power/talent that other people's lives depend on tolerating their bullshit.
